Well... I learned a big lesson today. I am not experience with cars or buying cars. Bought my first used vehicle from a dealership in August and that is all fine and dandy.
But I bought my first private sale on Sunday, 1989 Dodge Omni and went for a mechanical inspection today and found out she won't be road worthy without a ton of work and was recommended to just junk her.
Luckily I can probably make back $200 with the brand new studded tires it came with but I'll be out $200 with the remainder + paying for the inspection.
So big lesson to me - get the car inspected before buying!
The biggest reason why he told me to junk it was the rust holes in the uni-body, floor, and rear rockers. The unsafe check marks I got were Brake Lamps, Door Latches, Left and Right rear suspension. Apparently you can see the carpet from under the car.
