Yeah, that does suck. Hopefully copying the OEM gasket with better material will be a good solution. I know that there was a running change on the gaskets from one material to another. The older gaksets are black. The newer ones are a gray/greenish color.

Any news at all on this? It's been over 2 months. I know it's kind of a back-burner project for whomever is doing it for us...just seeing if there is any update.

BTW, now I do need 2 of these!!

I used to tell Chris @ TU I would be more than willing to buy four of these gaskets, but all my 16v stuff is getting shelved soon... Life won't wait ......or maybe

I am pushing as fast as I can on them. Coincidentally the newly tooled second design is being shipped to me now and it's only 30 miles away so I may get them tomorrow. I am just as anxious as you guys as I now don't have one for my own motor at this point. I have a ton of money wrapped up into this and I promise I won't quit untill I have something worthy of selling as I can't bail out now, I'm in too deep. I will post pictures as soon as I have something to show. I am just as disappointed at how long it's taking.

I can't speak for everyone, but I appreciate the efforts and am hoping this works out. I think you are the closest out of all of the Masi builds to actually running, so you are the one that is really feeling the pressure! I think that's actually a good thing...since you are the one that is getting this done.

Having a few more issues that I will deal with. The rings are short by .030 and I'm not getting compression in these corners.

Yeah it would probably work but I figure it might as well be perfect at this point.

are you sure the rings are short? orings need space to expand when compressed, that looks like it might be about right

They are short in respect to the side rail gaskets they need to be the same height

Re: Going forward with masi valve cover gaskets!

Not that any of us like it, but due to manufacturing tolerances most "rubber" gaskets that meet a sharp corner like that do require some RTV. The install instructions for the factory gasket even call for it. Same for the 8V stuff. Same for the oil pan.

I certainly want the best possible product that can be had, for sure. Just don't be surprised if the time spent on a small problem becomes exponential while the returns become diminishing. I'm certainly not saying to not try, especially since this is only the second try at it, and the first one that looks like it even fits.

    Keep going!!!

Oh I'd rather it take 10 times longer and be done right than take less time and have issues.

Have yet another version shipped to my house. Unfortunately I'm out of town till tomorrow. I'll post as soon as I get to it but I'm confident this is going to be the final product.

Still interested. I hope this works out. It may be (probably?) now or never for these things.

Re: Going forward with masi valve cover gaskets!

The large main gasket looks good. I'm going ahead with a batch of them. The spark plug rings that were supposed to be corrected with .030 height added were not in the package so I need to wait for a reply on what's going on with those. But I'm pushing as fast as I can.
