    93 Daytona IROC RT FS

    Date: 16th February 2014
    Username: 2.216VTurbo
    Full Name: Alan J
City, State, Zip:Mission Viejo CA 92692
Contact: (your choice of listing e-mail and phone. you must provide phone number via at least PM if potential buyer wants to verify.)
Selling or Wanted Price: (any applicable merchant fees must be included in this and not in addition) $6800. shipping not included.

EDIT; Motor is rebuilt now, crank was cut .010, bearings replaced, head was drilled and tapped so the oil galley could be completely flushed (unlike from the factory where it CANNOT POSSIBLY be completely flushed out) and NPT plugs added.

Description: Be very descriptive and accurate of the items to be sold or those wanted.

For those selling, a photo showing the items you have for sale/trade needs to have a piece of paper with your username and date included in the photo.

The above details are not optional. This is to protect buyers... just put yourself in their shoes.

Some of you saw this car at SDAC a couple years ago. I bought it from a farmer that stored it in a barn for the last 10 years in Elgin(IIRC) IL. We brought it to SDAC, I put in new PolyBushings mounts, Jackson did the second idler pulley mod, reduced tension valve retainers, new tires, new fuel lines, filter etc etc. I enjoyed the heck out of it at SDAC and it took everything I threw at it on the autocross track and during multiple parking lot hijinx Then after the SDAC meeting, Butch drove it 2200 miles back to SoCal. It did have the all too common core cracking on the center cylinder head plug and accordingly it used about 2 gallons of coolant on the drive from ChiTown to the OC. Made it no problem and I kept it topped off with coolant and drove it for 7 or 8 months. It's a great car, tight, 568 trans shifts great,no squeaks/rattles interior is cloth and 8.5 out of 10, paint is very good but some clearcoat issues on the hood and rear spoiler. I put a new 255lph pump and clean SoCal low milage fuel tank while I was at but then finally tired of the coolant smell as it oozed from the core plug and across the top of head. So I pulled the top end, had the core plug welded shut, 5 angle valve job, new seals, ported and polished the head(Ive done 3-4 Lotus heads, photos here in other threads if you want to see my skilz), added a FWD ported exhaust manifold(I hate porting cast iron!) ported intake manifold, .48 housing super 70 turbo, SS lines for water and oil on and on to the tune of about $8500. invested in this car. Then I pulled a rookie move that I will always regret It took 4 months on the top end rebuild and then feeling rushed to finish the job because I wanted to drive it to a Team Shelby event, got the head back from the cylinder head shop on a Friday afternoon and seeing the oil galley plugs were still installed, figured, MEH, they probably cleaned the head really well, it'll be fine. Well, you know how when you *try* to convince yourself of something yet you *know* you're probably wrong Well, the head wasn't super clean, and the galley plugs should have been pulled out Turns out, there was still bead blast media in there, and after I fired up the motor, drove it for 5-6 miles, I knew something was wrong Boost was coming up slow and motor was low on power. Brought it back to the shop, checked cam timing, hmmm, its fine Pulled the pan and found the rod bearings were shot So the motor needs to come apart, cleaned out, crank ground .010 over, and reassembled. It's been sitting in the corner of my shop over a year, I've lost interest and I am prepared to 'take a loss' on it rather than fix it myself. Time to move on, plenty of other projects. EDIT: Motor has been diissassembled and rebuilt. Car is ready to be driven anywhere.

It's $4K spent nicer now, did you see the engine bay pics? But thanks Wes, just too many projects and I wanna focus on the others more than this one. What I need is the space, if I don't get a buyer here soon it will be off to Ebay. If it doesn't sell I may just seek storage that's cheap but inconvienient until I feel like tearing into the motor again

Arrange a shipper, have them get it we'll work out a payment plan. I wanna park something else in that spot and the shop is full including a car always on the lift

Did the rod bearings spin? That is important for the future owner to know since they need to resize the rods (cheap) if a bearing spun. Hope the oil pump is happy regardless of the blast media. I have tried my best not to cheap out anymore and buy new oil pumps after checking to make sure they are within service limits far enough to last a lot of miles.

I think nice looking cars for me have the same value regardless of the function of the motor. One thing is much easier to fix then the other.

Bearings did NOT spin, oil pump was new while I had the pan off to remove the balance Shafts. I installed an new FWD treated accessory shaft at the same time. I really only drove the car on my 'tuning loop' around the shop 2-3 times. the loop is less than 2 miles long. I'm certain .010 would fix the crank no problem and would be willing to garranty that to the buyer.

Yeah and I rebuilt one... Let's just say I was a nervous wreck working on it. Had to rebuild the original engine in it...
