    Re: Connectors

Are these the same as the solenoid terminals?

Searched the thread for solenoid and found nothing...

    Re: Connectors

Anybody have any luck figuring out what type/brand of connector the 14-way on a SMEC is? I'm wondering if the terminals are available anywhere and whether they would be the same as the terminals in pre-1988 power modules.

Those are the ones where the wire and sockets are molded into one piece right ?

    Re: Connectors

I can't tell if they're molded or if the wires just fit well through the back of the connector. The terminals look like they may be able to come out.

If it's all molded together then there goes that idea.

    Re: Connectors

I'm not sure if this is the best place to put this, but I've run across replacement light bulbs for our radios. These are for the cd/cassette combo and pretty much every 5-band eq equipped radio. Oh, and also the external aux CD player.

They are available from Mouser. The manufacturer is "JKL Components" and the part number for the bare bulb is "23". The part number for the bulb with twist lock base is "CNW1-23".

    "23"
    Qty 1 = $0.39
    Qty 10 = $0.345
    Qty 50 = $0.308
    etc.....

    "CNW1-23"
    Qty 1 = $0.65
    Qty 10 = $0.59
    Qty 50 = $0.52
    etc.....

Special note, you need to make sure you take the blue boot off the old lamp (carefully) and re-use it.

Here's a pic of a typical repair, in all the stages from old to new:

Here's a pic of the bulb with wedge lock base, for those bases that can't be repaired, or crumble due to age:

Here's just how they look when received from Mouser:

Just for additional places to buy these, they are also used in instrument clusters on International trucks.
I don't have the part number right now, and I'm sure they're at least twice as much. But they most likely will have them on the shelf.

    Re: Connectors

This thread has been far more successful than I could ever imagine. So here is yet another one to chew on.

Commonly called 'Ford box terminals' I have found them on both a headlight switch and now the relay block. Pretty sure these are also used on the later Power distribution centers on these cars and other chrysler products of the 90's and early 2000's.

This picture is not mine but it is the item in question.

The Dorman offering is no good. It is very similar the dimensions are all just off though.

If you could find those I would be forever in your debt. I've tried a couple that looked like they would fit so far and they were no cigar. It would make installing a Neon PDC a breeze. As you stated they are the same terminals which are in the little relay blocks in the 88+ cars too.

I have a 5013949AA kit here. The terminals are a miniature version of the now known Molex pin used on the computer 60 way connection (33088-0009) so certainly these are of the same family or series ?

The orange wire/pin is a pre terminated repair wire from chrysler. The middle pin is the elusive 60 way connector pin aka Ford motor company/molex/freight-liner and whoever else and the green wire/pin is the original K20 charging circuit wire from my car (the insulation is cracked right at that bend)
We are going to repin the SBEC from a Spirit RT TIII and ordered the Mouser connectors everyone recommended. They should be here tomorrow. But, seeing this pic, now I'm worried. The pins in the SBEC look like the connector on the left but sounds like we ordered the middle one. Will it work? Here's a pic of the current SBEC pin.

Does anyone have a lead on these? I'm having a doozy of a time tracking down enough PDCs to get the 2-3 wires of the size I need out of each one. There are three terminals pictured above. The largest one is for the maxi fuses, the medium size ones are used in the late 80s-early 90s stand alone relay blocks, early TM/FWD PDCs and 1st gen Neon PDCs. The smallest one is for sure used for the mini fuses in the 1st gen Neon and early TM/FWD PDCs, but perhaps others.

Bottom line is I've been hunting thse down for a very long time now and this harness I'm working on would be much less of a hack job if I had terminals which I could just run new wires with.

    Question Re: Connectors

    Test Probe Terminal Kit!

Does anyone know if Mopar has a test probe kit. GM has the J-35616-F with 40 male and female terminals, and Ford has Rotunda NUD105-R025E with 50 male and female terminals.

I have purchased all OEM kits from, GM, Ford, Toyota-Lexus, Honda, and aftermarket Waekon, Autotek, and JumperKit. All are good kits but the sizes can be frustrating. They are priced from $600 down to less than $100. Some only have male terminals for testing pin fit, some have only one (1) male and female of each size, some have two or three (2 or 3) male and female for circuit testing.

I have found several aftermarket kits. Some have the terminal size and others just say small medium and large. The terminals on the most late models are extremely small .5mm round, .64mm round and square and .8mm round.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Re: Connectors

    Hi,
Are the terminals that you bought .060" or .110"? they appear to be a Ford WedgeLock.
I am looking for the .060" male and female for 18 awg crimp in bulk 200 to 1000 each if the price is right!
    Thanks,

    Re: Connectors

Has anybody ever found the 1.0 mm terminals used in the SBEC III PCMs used in the 96-02 Neons? I have the SBEC terminals from Molex here as well as the NGC terminals and housings, but am having trouble finding the SBEC III terminals. The housings are made by TE but are "proprietary" so nobody from TE will give me any more information than that.

Beyond that, I have PN's/connectors/terminals on hand for just about every connector used from 1997-2005 on the Neons and similar vehicles. The older stuff you guys use is barely used into 1995.

If anybody is interested in NEW SBEC housings and back covers, I know where to get some. The wedgelocks have eluded me but I think I know who made the connectors and my contact there has been very helpful, even so much as to put into production connectors that are "no longer available". Had to pay for mold cleaning/setup fees but that's part of the fun.
