    Re: Connectors

Are the smaller bulkhead terminals available anywhere? The Z1 wire at the bulkhead on Joy's Daytona is not ideal to say the least. This whole harness actually makes me wonder how it was the nicest running LM car I've ever had.

Anyway, if I could get the smaller ones, or even the larger ones I could replace or repin the connector.

Are you referring to the female connectors for the 40 way through the firewall?

I need the male connectors at the least. I need the thinner ones if possible. The Z1 wire is very, very sad.

    Re: Connectors

Has anyone drilled straight through the bulkhead connector just to pass a wire though? Seems like that would be a pain, but I don't need to remove the bulkhead very often, and if I use a deutsch connector, the circular pin should pass right through.

I've been unable to locate any pins for the bulkhead. If anyone has other ideas, I'm all ears.

    Re: Connectors

I removed the 40 way and am running the Deutsch connectors in place of it. The gold headlight switch housing connectors work ok for the female replacement terminals, but there is a lot of play and if I remember correctly, I had to basically get under the dash and push them on after the 40 way connectors were bolted back in place.

    Re: Connectors

Mission creep time it may be. Are those autosport connectors? I have plenty of terminals, but would need those housings. I'm assuming they're some sort of bulk head connector? Did you sandwich two pieces of plastic in there to keep it in place through the hole?

    ETA:

This bad lad takes size 16 terminals and would be a good solution for availability of terminals and wire sizes. I haven't measured the stock bulkhead yet, though.

The picture is before I used the threaded nut and wave washer to secure them in place. I was just taking one for posterity since I don't do that great of a job documenting as I go.

This is a link to one of the plugs I bought I may still use for the sub-harness. But there are a number of configurations you can get with wire sizes and wire count. This one had a threaded body that I cut off with a Dremel since I didn't need it. If you go this route, just be sure to look at the housing to confirm you get the right one.

    Re: Connectors

Thanks for the links. That's really helpful. I'm torn as to what I should do. I think drilling out one of the larger, unused terminal slots in the 50 way would easily allow for a 12ga tefzel wire to pass through. That would more than handle enough current for any fuel pump I want to use. At the same time, I do like the modern features and flexibility the Deutsch connectors offer. It may come down to a matter of time commitment on this though. It doesn't have to go to space, it just has to run at 7-12PSI to be honest.

Check out the product catalog, there is a square bulk connector, but unsure how common the terminals are or if it uses the barrel type ones. Product catalog link is in one of the links, just need to scroll down on the page to find it.

    Re: Connectors

My 12ga Tefzel wire came in today. It will pass through the opening for the male terminal, so I think I'll just slide it through and use a Deutsch connector to mate the two halves together. If I need to separate the bulkhead, I can just remove the pin and go from there.
