    Connectors

Just to get things started. This thread will be kept as an 'open depository' as this knowledge is found and to keep it from being lost to the depths of the internet and my horrible note taking.

    Anyone is free to contribute.

For most of the common connectors you can find if you look hard enough a 'repair connector' somewhere but that is not always the best solution if you are making a new harness or want to replace a complete section of something and minimize the number of cut-n-splice locations.

Online suppliers such as Digi-key, Newark, Allied and Mouser are good sources for finding the 'raw materials' if you have good, known part numbers from the mfg.

These two connectors fall under the metri-pack 150.2 series aka the 'pull to seat' or P2S family. all necessary seals are included with the housing.

4 way idle speed motor connector. Delphi P/N 12162188

2 way Coolant temp sensor connector (the one that tells the computer whats going on) Delphi P/N 12162193

Pull to seat terminals for usage in above connectors. Delphi p/n 12124075 for 16-18 gauge wire. Delphi p/n 12124076 for 20-22 gauge wire.

This falls under the metri-pack 280 series of connectors.

9004 and 9007 type headlight bulb connector. Delphi p/n 12048369. That is the p/n for just the bare housing, No gasket, wire seals, terminals or secondary locking devices are included.

    Wire seals
15324981 "Blue" seal for 12 AWG.
15324980 "Grey" seal for 14-16 AWG

    Terminals
    12077413 10-12 AWG
    12129493 12-14 AWG
    12077411 16-18 AWG

    Gasket/seal for the connector housing
12048370 Qty 1 per housing needed

    Terminal position assurance lock
12048371 Qty 1 per housing needed

Dorman 85378. package of 10 terminals.
It includes two of the Power module spring connectors
two of the socket and two of the pin type terminals used underneath the hood
two of the flat blade and flat socket type terminals used underneath the hood and at the bulkhead connection.

These terminals appear to be obsolete in the sense that all of the online resellers are either listing them as discontinued or available until stock is depleted if they are listed by their individual/original chrysler p/n. Dorman seems to be consolidating them down and only selling them in the variety pack now instead of individually by p/n in packages of 5 like they did in the past.

Delphi series 58 p/n 02965470 (12-14 gauge wire) Brass 1/4" flat socket terminals used on various connections throughout the car. Some known examples being the headlight switch connector, the SBEC-1 diagnostic connector. Probably many other applications as well.

Standard motor products CG49 is another option for the 1/4" flat socket terminal. It is plated instead of bare brass like the Delphi series 58 offering. Credit to Jeff1234 for identifying that option.

SBEC/SMEC?/EATX 60 way connector plug replacement socket terminals.

Ford p/n E7EB-14487-AA, Or Sterling/Freightliner/Western Star 23-13211-400 for 18-20 gauge, 23-13211-401 for 14-16 gauge. Thank you to "krut" for the commercial truck part numbers.

Molex 33088-0009. Edit: This part number is obsolete.

Delphi Apex 2.8 General information. Here

Thanks for that link. Some of the connectors on that site look so close to the Neon PDC stuff I can smell the victory in a multi-year war.

    Alot more to come...
Those are what I need for my wiring. I couldn't or didn't know what to look for, thanks!

Also, www.clipsandfasteners.com has a lot of OEM stuff that we can use as well. Good idea on starting the thread.

    Re: Connectors

Over the years I've been compiling a list of all the connectors I can find. The vast majority are available on Mouser. The ones I've managed to find are from Delphi (and FCI, which Delphi bought), TE connectivity and Yazaki. I have not included any of the Yazaki connectors because I can only order samples in small quantity and can't find a distributor for small quantity. Fortunately, Delphi and TE have got most of the things we need covered.

Note, I have not been able to find the source for those awful Ford-style "bullet terminal" connectors that most of our early 90's cars have. FORTUNATELY most of those are available in Delphi Weatherpack equivalent (i.e. TPS or MAP)

I have actually ordered and possess a bunch of these. I want to go through the process of taking pictures and posting them, but it's an issue of time at this point.

Also note, DO NOT buy gold or silver terminals. You might think they are better, but components don't come with gold or silver terminals, so you'd be interfacing different materials, which increases the risk of galvanic corrosion. You're best to just get the tin ones. If you want to buy gold male and female and make up your own end, i.e. oxygen sensor, go ahead.

    MAP Sensor:
12041332 (3-way Weather Pack, Orange, 3-bar index) HAVE
    12015796 (3-way Weather Pack, Black, 3-bar index)
12015384 (3-way Weather Pack, Gray, 2-bar index) Part from vehicle, verified from Delphi drawing

    TPS:
12015793 (3-way Weather Pack, Black, also for 3-wire O2 AND 1-bar MAP) HAVE
12015800 (3-way Weather Pack, Blue) HAVE

O2 (3-wire, the one on the O2 sensor, not the interfacing connector):
12010717 (Female, 3-way Weather Pack, Black) HAVE

Terminals for the above (Delphi Weather Pack):
    12089040 (Male, 0.5 - 0.8 mm², for 18-20 AWG, TPS, MAP) HAVE
12146501 (Male, same size, silver plated)
    12089307 (Male, 0.22 - 0.35 mm², for 22-24 AWG)
    12124582 (Male, 1.0 - 2.0 mm², for 14-16 AWG)
    12089188 (Female, 0.5 - 0.8 mm², 3-wire O2) HAVE

Cable Seals for the above (Delphi Weather Pack):
15324985 (violet, 1.60 - 2.15 mm cable diameter, Liquid Silicone) HAVE
    15324982 (green, 2.03 - 2.85 mm, Liquid Silicone) HAVE
    12129930 (Orange, 2.03 - 2.85 mm, FluoroSilicone)
    15324983 (Red-Brown, 1.29 - 1.70, Liquid Silicone)
    15324980 (Gray, 2.81 - 3.49 mm, SIL)
    15324981 (Blue, 3.45 - 4.30 mm, Liquid Silicone)

    AIS:
    12162188 (4-way Metri-Pack 150.2 pull-to-seat, Black, mushroom index, Green, 2.00-2.66 mm O.D.) HAVE
    12162189 (4-way Metri-Pack 150.2 pull-to-seat, Black, mushroom index, Tan, 1.65-2.15 mm O.D.)
    12162190 (4-way Metri-Pack 150.2 pull-to-seat, Black, mushroom index, Orange, 1.47-1.85 mm O.D.)
    12124075 (Pull-to-seat terminal, 2.03 - 2.40 mm cable) HAVE

    AIS Alternate:
    15354716 (4-way GT150 for AIS) HAVE
    15305028 (4-way GT150 TPA) HAVE

Thermistors (Coolant Temp, Charge Temp Sensors):

15471370 (GT150 Female Gold Terminals, 0.75-0.80 mm², 1.70-2.02 mm OD) HAVE
15366021 (GT150 Cable Seal, Round, White, 1.20-1.90 mm cable OD)
15366060 (GT150 Cable Seal, Round, Blue, 1.86-2.40 mm cable OD)
15305351 (GT150 Cable Seal, Oval, Yellow, 1.7-2.1 mm cable OD)
15366022 (GT150 Cable Seal, Oval, Green, 1.4-1.9 mm cable OD)

Logic Module Terminals (and other interior connectors):
    08-50-0023 (Molex, 18-22 AWG) HAVE
08-52-0113 (Molex, 18-20 AWG, larger insulation crimp, extra contact "ears", possible upgrade) HAVE - needs a slight pinch to fit the 25-pin housings

    Others:

    Bosch LSU 4.2 Wideband O2
936142-1 (TE, Micro Timer, 6-way connector) HAVE
144431-1 (TE, Junior Power Timer, 17 - 22 gauge tin terminal) HAVE

    Bosch LSU 4.9 Wideband O2
1599620-2 (TE, Housing, Micro-Timer, Available from OnlineComponents.com) HAVE and verified to work with Bosch sensor p/n 17025.
284716-4 (TE, Housing, Micro-Timer, Mouser) HAVE and verified, but is more difficult to disconnect than the 1599620 (may be good or bad, depending on what you want).
964274-2 (TE, Female Terminal, Micro-Timer, Available from OnlineComponents.com) HAVE
1241732-2 (TE, Female Terminal, Micro-Timer II, Mouser) HAVE, appears to be identical to 964274, but is pre-gapped a tiny bit (reduces connection force).
962876-2 (TE, Female Terminal, Micro-Timer, Mouser) HAVE, I can't tell any difference to 964274.
968015-2 (TE, Female Terminal, Micro-Timer, Mouser) HAVE, slightly different tang design (though, for what benefit?).
    964972-1 (TE, Cable Seal, Micro-Timer, Yellow, 1.9 - 2.4 mm Insul. O.D, Available from OnlineComponents.com) HAVE
    963530-1 (TE, Cable Seal, Micro-Timer, Gray, 1.4 - 1.9 mm Insul. O.D) HAVE
    964971-1 (TE, Cable Seal, Micro-Timer, Red, 1.2 - 1.6 mm Insul. O.D) HAVE

These are some better alternative parts:
54200206 (2-way Black, Apex 2.8 Series, Sealed) - Oil Pressure Sending Unit or Switch, Ignition Coils - part in hand verified by drawing
54200308 (3-way Black, Apex 2.8 Series, Sealed) - Crank Position Sensor, Oil Pressure Transducer, Speed/Distance Sensor, Neon Ignition Coil, etc. - in hand verified by drawing
54200409 (4-way Black, Apex 2.8 Series, Sealed) - Cruize Control Servo - part in hand verified by drawing

54001802 (Female Tin Terminal, 18-20 AWG) HAVE - Possibly replaced by 10810375
54001801 (Male Tin Terminal, 18-20 AWG) HAVE

(Don't use gold terminals to interface with sensors, only use gold terminals for in-line connections where gold is in both male and female)
54001803 (Female Gold Terminal, 18-20 AWG)
54001819 (Male Gold Terminal, 18-20 AWG)

54200005 (Cavity Plug, Need for Newer Oil Pressure Switch) - HAVE

More alternative parts with better connectors:
184246-1 (TE 2+2 pin Male SSC) - Oxygen Sensor (later, including Neon SRT-4) HAVE - verified with '05 O2 sensor from my truck
173706-1 (TE Male, Bag, Tin, 16-20 AWG) HAVE - verified, but I would prefer a slightly longer blade option
171631-1 (TE Male, Reel, Tin, 20-24 AWG) In Stock

184000-1 (TE 2 pin Female SSC) - Outside Air Temp. Sensor (late model) - part in hand verified by drawing
    184032-1 (TE 3 pin Female SSC) - 3.7L V6 Ignition Coil
184046-1 (TE 4 pin Female SSC) - AIS Motor (Late Model) - part in hand verified by drawing
184095-2 (TE Female, Tin, 17-22 AWG) HAVE
184030-3 (TE Female, Tin, 14-20 AWG)

    184140-1 (TE Cable Seal, 1.6 - 2.1 mm Insul. O.D.) HAVE
176886-2 (TE Cable Seal, 1.8 - 2.6 mm Insul. O.D.) HAVE - used this to verify the O2 sensor conn/term

282189-1 (TE Fuel Injector) HAVE - it's a cable sealed version with built-in TPA and provisions for the boot
    880810-1 (2-way boot) HAVE
It's hard to tell which terminal is best. I have all of these 3, but they all work just fine.
927770-1 (TE Female, Junior Power Timer, 17-20 AWG) HAVE
929939-1 (TE Female, Junior Power Timer, 17-20 AWG, same as above but with a longer body) HAVE
964286-1 (TE Female, Junior Power Timer, 17-20 AWG, almost the same as 927770, but slightly more robust?) HAVE
    828905-1 (TE Cable Seal, White, 2.2 - 3.0 mm cable O.D.) HAVE
    828904-2 (TE Cable Seal, Blue, 1.2 - 2.1 mm cable O.D.) HAVE
Not sure if these are any better or worse than the last 2 seals, but they work too:
    963293-1 (TE Cable Seal, Red, 2.0 - 2.7 mm cable O.D.) HAVE
    963294-1 (TE Cable Seal, Blue, 1.2 - 2.1 mm cable O.D.) HAVE

Hey, awesome! 99% of everything I listed above is available in singles at Mouser. It was one of my requirements during my "exhaustive" search.

Though, in my quest to find suitable replacements for all things "Ford bullet terminal" I stumbled upon this coil pack:

It's used on Jeeps. I picked one up at a local wrecker and got the connector too. I posted pics from RockAuto instead of pics of the part I have, but I really do have it, I can take pics of it if need be. It uses a Yazaki 7283-8129-40 connector. I can not find a low volume distributor for this part. I can order 10 samples (I work in the auto ind), but that's really no use for very many of us.

If you know of somewhere these can be bought, that would be great. A list of the terminals and wire seals is on Yazaki's website:

    http://connectors-catalog.sys.yzk.co...tail&select=XX

    Thanks!

    Re: Connectors

You should place orders for the samples and then just tell them they were lost in the mail until they start sending samples with tracking numbers. I figure you'll get three sets before that happens.

I can not find a low volume distributor for this part. I can order 10 samples (I work in the auto ind), but that's really no use for very many of us.

If you know of somewhere these can be bought, that would be great. A list of the terminals and wire seals is on Yazaki's website:

    Thanks!

To add to that, there is a post from a forum that states the following:

I found the connector I needed at my local Jeep dealer. the part number (if anyone is interested) is 1-05102401AA. Cost with tax is around 22 bucks. The bag contains the connector, Four terminated wires, Two shrink tubes, and Four wire crimp terminals.

    Re: Connectors

The doorman 10 piece multi-pack I posted in the beginning of the read has the larger style ford bullet terminals, but not the smaller ones. Even those are a rather poor copy though, the old stock dorman packages were USA made and very likely OEM supplied. new ones today are made in taiwan and there not formed/stamped very well.
