Fsm page for how to adjust linkage on a 555/520 trans

Have done some research but found a few different answers on how to adjust the shift linkage. To help does anyone actually have the page that tells you the proper way to do this?

From my research I have found that your supposed to lock the trans with the pin. But some have said between 1-2 and others 3-4 so which is it

second I think you lock the shifter. I don't have a bolt but could possibly go to the hardware store and get something. Is this correct?

trans is an 87 520. Cables shifter and selector are off a 89 Daytona with 520/555

also anyone know the bolt size to lock the shifter mechanism and what size the spacer is?

    thanks Brandon

Here are the crappiest videos on the planet which outline the procedure. Note that I have read that the bolt is a reverse thread, but the hole in mine was too small regardless. None the less you could use the spacer and just hold it in place while tightening things up.

I watched the first one. Didn't see the second one. My problem is I don't have the plastic piece and bolt. So by chance could you tell me how wide that piece is so I can make one? And do you know what for size and pitch that bolt is? If I had those two bits I'd be golden.

i found the diagrams on how to do this in the 2.2/2.5 dodge fwd book. It answered a lot of my questions. Says the thing gets locked in the 1-2 neutral position.

You should be able to find the second one on my channel if you can't view it on here. It does show up for me.

I'll try to measure that thing. This isn't the first time I've had that request. I always forget to actually do it though.

Please and thank you. It would really help. I have never seen one of these things yet honestly.

Just going by memory, I think it was just under half an inch. But best to get an actual measurment.

Im hoping cords comes thru with some measurements. I'm sure i can get some nylon bushings or turn a spacer on the lathe and then I will be set

Anyone got a shifter laying around with the nut and spacer attached that could measure the thickness?

The bolt is left-hand threaded. No idea why. But if you can't find it, I imagine you could always drill and tap it for a regular bolt.

You might have to disassemble the shifter to do it. It's been so many years since I looked at a 555 shifter, I don't remember how accessible that hole would be.

Pulled the top of the shifter off and am gonna tap the hole. Bought two 1/2" wide spacers with a 1/4 hole in the middle and some 1/4 inch bolts gonna sand the nylon spacers down and then tap the hole.

Adjusted it all up. The one cable is all the way at the end of its adjustment. Not sure if its normal to be like that or not but I don't like it. Plan on getting cables made by push pull at some point so I won't be worried about breakage.
