Generic term for 2.4 lash adjusters used in P.T. Cruisers.
Sold under M.P. P5007440
They have a bleed hole in the tip to allow air to escape the lifter.
Also they are shorter and need to be shimmed slightly to achieve proper height.
Thanks
Randy

"PT lifters" dfined: in '99 ChryCo updated the 2.0 and 2.4 4V lifter with the bleed valve, eliminating 'lifter collapse' due to aerated oil; to make it easier for us TDers to remember which lifter to get, if you asked for "PT Cruiser" lifters you were sure to get the '99+ updated version (PT was introduced '01) the newer style lifter was marketed as a Mopar Performance upgrade for the pre-'99 DOHC 2.0 and 2.4 as part P5007440 it looks like the aftermarket has commonalized the upgraded lifter for the pre-99 too IMNSHO you should also upgrade to conical valve springs .. both for power (reduces valve float) and durability (less likely to break a spring) if yur on a budget get OE 3.3/3.8 springs , or there is a (IIRC) Compcams spring, either uses GM 'enhanced' 3100/3300 retainer (or theres an aftermarket Titanium for a bit ore $) (haveto search here to find the thread with part numbers / year applications) if yur on a super budget like me then get junkyard PT lifters, 3.3 springs, and 3100 retainers for free (these parts don't really "wear"...) then you can afford the +1 exhaust valves also upgrade to dual spring teflon valve seals (e.g. OE 5.7 hemi) .. also very cheap and WAY better than the 80s umbrella seals

sorry I don't know why my "carriage returns" arent working.. making my post one big hard to read paragraph .. dam Mac
Working on dash now , have a painless wiring harness going in, new switch panel , and fuse/relay box.
The aluminum panel will have a big tach , the other open space to the right will have oil pressure , coolant and oil temp , Afr meter
Installing fuel cell ,
And working on shifter height and fore/aft location.

just another FYI. The 89 shifter has a shorter throw and sits a little lower than the 88 and earlier. I'm pretty sure they all had 88 shifters from the factory.
Agreed with Benji, looks like a taller shifter stalk.
Keep up the inspirational work! I am installing my lift this weekend, so progress will start soon for me.

I am trying to get the shifter mechanism higher by lifting the entire assembly up. So it is closer to the steering wheel.
But a shorter throw would be great.

If the knob is at a good height for you, and a shorter throw is desired, the shifter can be modified. Lengthen the levers between the cable attachment points and the pivot ball.

I am raising the entire unit , base cables everything together.
Great tip on shifter throw. Will check that out today

Stand alone Ems underway. Nightmare of spaghetti begins
Going with the Electromotive because the shop has most experience with it , and their dyno communicates directly with this system. Should make tuning easier. They are also known to be less "fussy" then many stand alones and not require constant tweaking.
FYI- gauge cluster will not remain as it is in picture. Trying a couple different mock-ups thus the Skippy peanut butter lid( same size as a tach) taped to the aluminum panel.

What about entering the Grassroots Motorsports ultimate track car competition????

Havent spoken to Jacob yet but
Grass roots motorsports was interested in coming to Florida and doing an article on all the Consulier/ Mosler race cars. We would go to track have the red car , hammerhead , intruder, mt900 ( will bring blue car too, as I think its fastest of all the Gtp's. ) We would drive them all( GRM would drive them) and do a write up.
To me sounds like great idea.
Gotta ask Jacob -
Hey Jacob - you up for it ?
Anyone who wants to bring their cars would be welcome.
I have not gotten far enough to know when or where. Many tracks to choose from and maybe try and coincide with another event.
And Johnny great idea - what are the rules for that event ?

We got the shfter tower built , goal is to raise the entire mechanism closer to the steering wheel.
Also finished plumbing the fuel filler ( goes to stock location)
Also fitted the original fuel cover, a requirement for fuel cells located in the cabin of the car
Autometer gauges arrived and will go in this week.
Working on plumbing inner cooler which mounts on the drivers side of the engine compartment with a scoop in engine cover
Been slow going but some progress. Electromotive ems is wired in , coil packs in place, on rear fire wall.
Gauges temporarily installed. Will paint the aluminum backing plate to make it easier on the eyes in the sun.
As noted on another post battery and bracket installed

We had a bit of a problem modifying the throttle linkage to fit the new pedals.
Ran all hydraulic lines , master cylinders are floor mounted , reservoirs in frunk.
Also got the relays etc for the standalone ecu mounted.

I have had my car in their magazine, as you might know. SO I was asking them why don't you do a real article on the Consulier?....they said great idea....guess they are following through...great!
I don't know, the Grassroots magazine web site should have it.And Johnny great idea - what are the rules for that event ?
