    Re: Factory Consulier/Mosler RACE cars

So I have been going through the engine that came out of the red race car.
It appears to be a non-common block .
It has a date on it of 1987, it has a fuel pump block off plate.
But it does have roller rockers,
    Any thoughts?

It appears that everyone of the engine/tranny's I picked up are the same.
I am no Mopar expert - so is this a non-common block?

Anyone else have an idea what block is in their GTP??

Mine had a non-common block as well, common block is now in place.

My understanding is they are all '87s. I think he bought all the engines in one batch, based on pre-orders, but when all the pre-orders backed out he was stuck with what he had and never completely used them all. That's why there were still so many spares.

    Thanks for the info.
I thought that non- common blocks did not have the roller rocker heads ?

88 was the first year for them. It's a pretty small change over all, in the cam and followers.

Yeah. These engines here all have the roller rockers. But maybe it was an in between year switch?

Engine about to go back in , wiring for the standalone management system.

Had to go with the 16" enkei wheels like on the blue car to clear brakes.

Progress has been slow , due to working on the blue car. But we are back at it.
    Installed willwood pedal cluster.
    Began fabricating new steering column,
And set the drivetrain in place.

    The stock one was gone?

Wanted adjustable pedals to allow seat position change. Also the willwood brakes require a different bore master cylinder.

And the stock gas pedal linkage is a rube Goldberg set up.

Looking good! Even found a 2 piece intake I see, or was that on the engine already?

2 piece intake courtesy of Chris and turbos unleashed. Will go with better turbo etc once we get things dialed in more.

When putting drivetrain back in , we found the tranny mount was cracked
    Welded and reinforced it.

    Mocking up a dead pedal

Waiting for stand alone ems to arrive.

What are you using for EMS? I was thinking of going either Haltech or Megasquirt depending on how well I got mine up and running.

    Re: Factory Consulier/Mosler RACE cars

Used megasquirt with a turbo Volvo, while cheap and tuneable it was super inconsistent and required constant tweaking.
    I haven't used haltech
But have only heard good things.

We are using "electro-motive", my race tuning Guy uses this system in all his race cars including his Honda factory cars. So that's the reason. I would rather have a tuner that knows and likes the ems

If you've got a dealer in your area, Fueltech will run utilizing the factory Hall effect sensor. I'm running fueltech in my car, get a FT350 or higher if you go this route.

Steering column done , Heim joints. New steering wheel and quick release.

    Rebuilt axle shafts installed.
Suspension is rigidly mounted on bearings , not bushings.
Working on wiring, dash and plumbing

After seeing what you're doing with the pedals, are you going to move the shifter forward / up a little if the cables reach?

Yeah raising the whole mechanism about 2" higher. The steering column is actually longer then stock so will be pulling shifter back closer to rear of car , by a few inches.

Did you happen up upgrade to PT lifters and shims while going through the engine? Definitely worth while if you plan on continuous high RPM driving. Allows air to escape and keeps the lifter from collapsing like the stock ones do. I had issues with my shadow after about 5-8 laps of circle racing loosing power. The PT lifters made a seat of the pants noticeable difference.

What are Pt lifters ? This first engine is just a pretty stock set up. Going to use it as a test mule. I have like 4 more NOS ones to build up.
