I may end up getting some jars and letting some samples of wire I have laying around soak for a couple weeks to see what happens.
No. I ran E85 for a month or more and pulled my fuel pump to check the sock and the wire was insulation was fine.

Excellent write up as always, AJ.

I am also concerned about fuel resistant wire. In searching around it looks like PTFE wire is the fuel resistant wire of choice for the pro's. But it appears to be very very expensive.

    Edit:

    Found it... more reasonably priced.

I just pulled my fuel pump in May (2015) to change the fuel sock when I converted back to E85 and the wire coating was fine and I used standard automotive grade wire from O'Reilly's. Not that using a better wire wouldn't hurt, that was also my concern when I first did this, but after a year it's still intact.
