91 Spirit cold weather no start

Thought I had this fixed by changing the ASD relay, but no starty.

Car: 91 Spirit ES 2.5 turbo
Problem: no start - no fuel pump

Seems to do this in extreme cold.
Several week's ago on a very cold morning the car wouldn't start. After work in the afternoon I removed th e plug a couple times and the car started.
Now with new cold weather it did this again.
Car started yesterday after changing old asd relay. Relay is clicking but fuel pump wont run.
Is there anything that would prevent the pump from coming on?

Can hear and feel the solenoids click in. Tried un
plug/replug solenoid but no go. Tried to unplug fuel pump but no go.

It started right up yesterday after changing the ASD relsy but this morning would not start again.
    Any thought?

Next time is does it check for continuity across the ASD relay (between red and Green/blk) or check for voltage at the green black wire.

Re: 91 Spirit cold weather no start

I had continuity across the new relay. And with the relay unplugged I had battery volts on the red wire ( I think it was). I don't recall and didn't check a green with black. Is that the other side of the secondary (switched)?

Yes that is the wire that feeds the injectors, fuel pump, solenoids, ect.

Re: 91 Spirit cold weather no start

Went to work early to see if I could work it out. Fuel pump kicked on right away with key on.
Started up and drove it home. Will take the PT tonight so I don't have to get a ride home again.

Will have to see if I can find out what's wrong in the cold.

I think it's just mad that it hasn't been raced in so long. Next time it starts, go directly to the closest open track.

Re: 91 Spirit cold weather no start

Tried it this morning and same thing. Fuel pump didn't kick on.

Its got to be something related to the cold. Its only done it when well below freezing ambient temps.

Maybe its not any of the engine electronics but possibly the ignition switch? or the range of adjustment in the ignition switch?

Re: 91 Spirit cold weather no start

This afternoon I tried it and car started fine.
Someone at work who knows nothing of TM's is convinced there is some computer or sensor holding it out when below freezing.
I've never heard of such a thing for our cars. And its not like I'm in Winnipeg, this is NC... although the temps in the teens don't feel like our normally mild winter...
