    87 chrysler 2.2 turbo/digital dash

Love the car hate the dash. The dash went out on me nothing except the mpg part. Tried to find one , to rebulid it was about $300.00. Found one in town in phoenix, az at arizona parts ( the guy has a mass collection of parts, check him out ) he had 5 of the them went over to get one and after checking them out only one was good. I am hoping that this one last, it is very hard to find someone to work on these things.

What about converting it to an analog gauge cluster? I changed the gauge cluster in my Dad's '85 Chrysler Town & Country http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...on-build/page3 post #50

Yeah, you can convert or try to fix your old one. A lot of them that I see suffer from bad LEDs mainly. Some of them lose power to whole gauges so that's probably pretty easy to track down. I would think that a little time with a meter would yeild great results. I need to come up with a way to bench test them so I can start fixing them for folks.

The big problem is most of the techs today do not have a clue about the older units that have capacitors and diodes they are mostly to just replacing a board

Yep, and both of those are pretty easy to test even if you don't know what they actually do in the circuit.

I had to replace a giant capacitor on my 87-89 Daytona/Le Baron digital dash, it was quite easy.

I've literally taught 12 year old girls to replace them. I had a couple kids replace the caps in one of my LCD monitors last year and it's now working like a champ.

First, the digital gauge stayed on for about 15 minutes after the car was shut off, then MPH area of the dash went dim ,then this fall off. Soldered a new one on and it was fixed.

Like I said there are no old school techs out there all the new ones know is to replace a board and not troubleshoot components.

It's pretty easy to test them too. A Decent multimeter with a capacitance function will do the job. Just remember that they are polarized.
