    Re: 1989 Horizon Masi project

The only things that are not stock Horizon are the poly mount and one masi engine bracket that is clearanced for the head. I have the factory engine bracket that I ground to fit the head but thought it was the same otherwise and didn't use it. I am not using any shims under the poly mount.

Well, I switched the masi engine bracket with the factory Horizon one and it was exactly the same. I found another article with the exact same problem and he had the Poly mount as well. I ended up flipping the mount upside down and using some shims to get the motor level.

Remember, Chrysler shimmed the passenger side up 1/4" to help counter-act torque steer from the factory. If you put it to spec, it won't be level...

It might not technically be right, but try flipping the passenger side mount over. It looks to me like the difference can be made up there.

Flipping the drivers side would make things worse. I can experiment leveling the motor with shims at this point. With the drivers mount the correct way pictured in the poly bushings instructions it was a mile too high.

I haven't messed with one in a while, but is the flange for bolting the mount down offest? If not, then I am having a hard time understanding how flipping the passenger side mount over would cause more issues, at least with that side of the engine being too high.

Sorry I misread your post as flipping the drivers side. I already flipped the passenger mount as described in post #142 and it did solve the problem. One more obstacle overcome, plenty left.

Oh..oops. Sorry. I didn't catch where it actually solved the problem.

Its been a while but I am moving slowly. Been working on some other projects lately. Managed to bang out a 3.5" aluminum cold air intake.

Does anyone know what I'm missing in here? Thermostat is loose in the housing when closed. Is there another seal other than an o ring?

Joel what thermostat are you using? Original is .040 thick and 48mm in diameter. If it's the correct diameter, you could always put a small bead of RTV on the one side to seal it.

Ah, mine is 45.5mm round. Part of why its so loose. Do you think its a factory Chrysler thermostat?

Factory one has Behr-Thomson Italia stamped in part. No Chrysler part #. I believe 48mm is pretty common size.

slowly putting the upper coolant lines together. I'm going to use this filler with a coolant recover bottle as the high point.
