    1989 Horizon Masi project

This may take some time to complete but I'm starting it now, I have the car. the head is finished and the block is out at the machine shop currently. Specs so far:
-masi head with oversized valves, ported, valve guides, upgraded springs
-comon block with custom je pistons, forged masi crank, srt4 eagle h beam rods, custom billet main caps with arp studs and bolts
-rust free 89 horizon from florida
-90 turbo caravan harness that needs to be modified, "I dont know what I'm doing....."
-Custom billet fuel rail, 72lb injectors
-58mm Comp turbo with billet wheel, ceramic ball bearing on order
-modified custom masi intake, approximately 30% more plenum volume, 58mm throttle body
-custom stainless tubular header "in process of making"
-568 quaife with bronze pads "at trans shop"
    -Vw mk2 radiator "on order"
    -Air water intercooler "on order"

My background includes about 6 months of turbo dodge experience so I barely know what I'm doing....So help a brother out when I have dumb questions!

Here are some pictures of where I stand currently.

Some nice build parts and especially liking the words rust free omni. Great foundation for a build.

I have a set of brand new L body konis for about 25% off if you need them.

Thank you for the offer on the struts, that's way in the future at this point but I will keep it in mind. I want to keep the wheels but they are 13" rims and I cant find good tires for it. I would like to find some 4 lug steelies for it that are wider and 15"

Im liking the intake, stock is good, yours will be better. Well kept secret that that skinny, long necked Masi manifold outflows a 2 piece. Ooops, did I say that. You might want to consider cutting back the reinforcement webbing 1/2" or so, it make routing the plug wires sooo much easier

    Re: 1989 Horizon Masi project

Looks like a great starting point!

I think it would be cool to keep the 13s too. It is tricky finding tires for them. 205/60/13 is a decent size and its available but stock 13" steelies would be too narrow for it. You could go for some wider 13s though.

175/70/13 is a decent fitting size for the wheels and car but it just isnt a lot of rubber. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....tnum=77HR3KR26

Dont push the red button. You hear me?

    Re: 1989 Horizon Masi project

Good call on the tires, I may have the stock rims widened. I have a place here locally that will do that. The intake was chemical washed at the machine shop that did the head. I'm saving the powder coat for last so I don't have to worry about it getting scratched up in the mock up phase. I'm planning a cast 3" elbow out of the intake plenum to adapt to my throttle body plate. The cast version has a smaller I.D. so it wont be to large. Just waiting for a ton of parts in the mail.

    Re: 1989 Horizon Masi project

I was kidding about the wheels, the only way to get any sort of traction would be to run slicks
    especially with a Masi head
Probably the easiest way to run steelies would be to upgrade to 5 lug and run Neon/PT Cruiser steel wheels
I have a pair for the SRT-4 with 205 drag radials on them

Find a 94/95 neon 4 lug. Those will be your 15's steelies.

Thanks for the wheel offers, I'm really trying to concentrate on the drivetrane now. Be lucky to even start the car this year.

1st gen Neons never came with 15" wheels.
And 4 lug steelies would likely be 13".

Got the exhaust parts today, cast stainless collector with wastegate port looks awesome. Picked up a 58mm throttle body and opened it up a bit, factory neck down is 54mm opened it to 57mm without getting too thin on the tubing. Tig welded a bead on the mouth so the silicone fitting doesn't blow off.

Where did you get your elbows?
I could only find them in McMaster Carr and they went up to $50 a piece for aluminum, this
was a few years ago when I was making my intake

They look like aluminum but those are stainless schedule 10, 1.5" fittings for the exhaust side.

Treadstone performance, hopefully the moderators let this fly since nobody else carries this piece. I think its guaranteed for life, don't have to worry about cracking the wastegate off that's for sure...
