I don't know about the studs, but I do believe it is held on there with some acorn nuts.

If you have a chance and can get a few pics that would be great.
And deeper I dig
There is a little surface rust at the bottom of the fenders to clean up and at this point it is going to be easier to paint them off the car.
Wow. You're the man for pulling it that far apart so relatively close to SDAC.
We'll see. I want it back together well before SDAC. I've cut it to close to many years.

Yeah, Just snowed again Monday. Finally getting above freezing tomorrow. Still have to turn on the heat in the garage every time I go out there.
Parts all in primer and sanded. Next weekend I should be shooting on the color and clear. Then to put things back together.
Meanwhile in IL I haven't touched my car since the fall. Thanks for letting me live vicariously though your progress. That is looking really good and I can't wait to see it complete.
Got the fenders, engine bay, bumper cover and front ground effects painted this weekend. I'll do the Grill, Headlight bezel, and side effects this weekend. Hopefully I'll get a few odds and ends done during the week. At first I wasn't sure the paint was going to match that good but it's pretty close. The shine on the new clear is brighter than the tired door paint even after being buffed.
Working against the clock is what makes it fun.
Looks good!
GFX and Headlight bezel painted. Got some misc bits and pieces blasted today and will get paint on those during the week or next weekend. Hopefully I can get the fenders fit and the side GFX installed. I'm going to hold off on the front bits until the motor/trans are back in. On that note does anyone have a source for the rivets that hold the GFX in at the door sill? They are aluminum for a 1/4 hole and the head is 1/2. I'll post over in the CSX VNT thread also. Here's a picture for the days work.
Looks good!

What kind of paint do you like to use?
I usually use PPG's Omni line. It's their commercial line and is quite a bit cheaper than the high end stuff. I've used the Omni or Nasson (DuPont) clear and have had good luck with that. The higher end clears will have more uv protection from what I've been told but my cars are in storage most of the time and it isn't worth the extra cost.
Got some progress made this week and weekend. Painted parts ready to put on. Bead blasted the aluminum parts and put a clear coat on them, Got the main wire harness back in place and the engine in. I'm going to have to do something with the vacuum lines as there were a bunch that were broken and pieced back together when I took it apart. Hopefully the odds and ends of the engine install will get finished this week and the front and GFX can go back on.
Haven't had time to get the pictures off my phone lately but figured I'd update my progress. The engine is in and running and the car is 95 % back together. I have to install the hood, buff the passengers side, install the headliner, seats, radio, and dash bezel. I brought the rims to get the tires replaced and even after I told them they needed to be careful and they assured me it would not be an issues the tire machine "Jumped" and broke one of the fiberides. I have a spare coming that should be here tuesday or wednesday. Here's a few pictures
Looks awesome. Nice work!
