Thumbs up Saving Shelby GLHS 058

Okay its official I bought Shelby 058 from Simon drove up to San Fran and picked up the car saturday. had been in the same out side storage yard for 3-4 years. Im not sure is 58 really wanted to be saved it fought me at every turn. First the storage yard said we dont have the keys. Simon had never actually touched the car it was in storage when he bough it sight un seen except for photos. He did have a member look at it for him. Once he bought it the storage yard moved ti to a new spot and it sat again. It does have a salvage title drivers quarter was hit insurance said total loss and who ever owned it had the quarter replaced they did a great job all steel no filler. HERE are some pictures bring 58 home to San Pedro.Click image for larger version.

    Re: Saving Shelby GLHS 058

I've seen this car in person when a previous owner had it, his name is Chris Pauluk and I believe he still lives in the Stockton area. There was a video posted in the video section almost 3 years ago now of the nor cal turbo dodge meets we once had around 2002-2003 that shows #58 in it. He added a custom third brake light underneath the spoiler which I thought added a sleeker look to the rear end. Anyways I'm glad it's in good hands again and can't wait to see future pics of it again.

Yes must be so Alan from my club here in so cal told me it was Chris Pauluk's car previously. Its gonna get some big changes though. Brian Slow is making me a chromly 12 point cage and Im installing a 568 with OBX a 4 bolt main 2.2 with max valve G head big ports and a GT35 DBB turbo external waste gate. Im planing on going low 10s high 9s cage is good to 8.5 at 180 so the next engine will be a neon head maybe an SRT4 engine we will see. This car has a salvage title so I dont feel bad about making it a racer with plates car.

Wow!, brings back memories.. I originally saved that very car from the crusher once before. It had been hit in the driver's quarter.

Yep they did a nice job on the quarter no filler but it is still salvage title. So a racer car it shall become. It s funny the body on this one is better than my other one 924.

Thanks. I put that quarter on back in late 1995. It hasn't been painted after all these years It was brand new sheet metal from Chrysler. The panel was welded but i had not sealed or not painted before i sold the car. The rear suspension was also replaced. I got the rear suspension from a GLHS in a bone yard in Maricopa county Arizona. The car had its original centurian IIs when sold but included a spare set of 16" pumpers which may be the ones on the car now.

Awesome, glad it went to a new owner who'll use it. I really didn't want to part it out and crush it, Title on its way.

Thanks guys 0058 was going to be as nice, it was my 1st GLHS. I happened to stumble acoss it back in the day when i was calling around yards and dismantlers asking for cars that had a TII setup in them to be a donor for my '86 Shelby Charger. One of the dismantlers told me they had one in a Charger body!! I was like What?! Really?! After telling him to go verifiy a few things about the car, i was convinced it was a GLHS and promptly made a trip to Sacramento for an engine. Once i saw the car, i could couldnt part it out. First thing i did was I lifted the dash mat, pulled the dash plaque and then I bought the whole car, and the rest is history...

So the Quarter is still in the white so to say never been sealed or painted. I Need the trim piece across the top of the Quarter. Also the passenger skirt lower corner of the front Air dam.

    Re: Saving Shelby GLHS 058

I once had the Shelby CSX style emblem on the hatch in place of the Pentastar, I see that's long gone..
I had an epoxy seal coat on the 1/4 panel.. When the car had it's stock engine, I only put about 10 tanks of gas into it before it threw a rod.
My machinist tore apart what was left of the block and said it looks like it was a knocking engine that was simply a bearing reslap.
(crank was scorn up bad on the 3 that didn't throw a rod)
it DID have a built 2.2 TBI common block from a Shadow American that I built it up with 2.5 rods, arp hardware, JE pistons, head reworked, tbi roller cam, ect.
    I'm guessing that's gone too?

Went 15.2 @ 7psi (actuator went out on the way to Sac Raceway)

In case you were wondering, that's a Chevy Suburban LED 3rd brake light.
I molded in the A Pillar pod in, how has it held up? Ultra Lite Pro comp boost/oil still in it?

Robert Skelley was owner #2, I was owner #3, sold it to #4 Chris Roy, he sold it to his nephew #5 I believe, then off to Canada #6, then to you...Lucky #7!

Please post pictures as you go, Slowe
