    fuel tanks interchange?

    Merry Christmas everyone!
Hey I've got a quick question for you guys. Can I use the fuel tank from an '88 LeBaron on my '86 T&C wagon?
Best I can tell the part numbers ARE different though they look very much the same. The Dorman PN for the 88 is 576008, while for the 86 it's 576007.
Sending unit PN is same, as is fuel pump and hanger..., so what is the diff between the two tanks? Anyone know?

I'm not entirely sure about that combination. However, I just gave another member a gas tank out of an 87 new yorker and he put it into an 89 CSX with no problem. I think the main difference is regarding if it is a turbo car or not. I could be mistaken on that front, but I would certainly try it.

Both tanks are from turbo cars, but ya know what I found interesting is that thy give the same PN for T&C turbo they give for Aries of same yr.

    Re: fuel tanks interchange?

In further inspection I've discovered the difference between the tanks. The Lebaron tank is notched in the area where the fuel filter is mounted under the car, whereas 86 T&C is not. So the 88 Lebaron tank looks like it will fit the 86 T&C wagon.

I put an 88 Lebaron tank in my 87 New yorker both looked the same though I didn't notice any differences. Works just fine on my car.

Well since I last posted on this topic I've discovered this doesn't work with the original straps, they are to short. I think I found a set that will work, I'll pick them up tomorrow. They are Spectra Premium Part No. ST173. I'll let ya know.

Just as a little tidbit: European Spirits (known as Saratoga's) have a larger tank than US models. I think I remember it being 16 or 18 gallons.

That would be awesome to get one of those. You could do some seriously long trips with one.

    Re: fuel tanks interchange?

i used a 87 lebaron 4 door turbo tank in a 89 aries tbi once. i think i swapped in the tbi pump first though.

    fit just fine.

i used that cars brake lines too.... just bent a larger S under the car to account for the length lol.

    Re: fuel tanks interchange?

So far I still have NOT gotten this combo to work. I'm trying a third set of straps, these HAVE to work because I've modified them and there's no taking them back
