Moog spherical bearing control arm bushings

I know these aren't for turbo mopars but I know lots of you have neons and PT cruisers. These vehicles have vertical control arm bushings that are very prone to failure. Moog has recently released a new setup that uses a sealed greased spherical bearing instead of a rubber bushing. Pretty trick setup, I think.

GREAT idea…..shoot, why don't they make it for the Avenger I have. They all need this.

It looks like you could almost use that in place of the stub shaft bushing on our cars.

I was hoping someone would come out with a decent sealed spherical joint for my wife's cobalt. The original rear control arm bushing lasted 20k miles, and I've had to replace it once a year since then. Next time I'll try these.

I was thinking the same thing….
IF you could find one the right ID and OD
and IF you could design a way to hold it in place.

Looks like a good design. I replaced the ones in my 02 Neon ACR with the Prothane kit in the beginning of 2011 with no problems since. The disk bushing gets replaced with two polyurethane pieces. The kit is only around $40

Caliber/Avenger…same chassis….just listed the wrong year than mine. Not sure if they are the same, but I will check.

I've been trying to figure out a good way to run spherical joints on the cast arms for some time. Time & money haven't aligned yet.

Hmm, these do look fairly interesting. Definitely a million times better than continuously replacing OEM style bushings. I wonder what the ride quality would be like with these and an OEM style front bushing compared to poly replacements in both locations.

The 93-02 F-bodies have the same design, with the disk style bushing. We had a few guys replace the bushing with poly, and the control arm broke because of the bind the poly created. Typically we replace the disk bushing with a Moog rubber, and the standard bushing with poly.

Different style and application, but I used these rear control arms on my Trans Am: http://www.foundersperformance.com/p...mbination.html . There was NO noticeable difference in harshness or vibration over the 200k mile stock pieces. I could imagine the Moog products giving a better quality ride.

Pretty soon, I'll have a set of these bushings on the shelf for when I rebuild the front end of the Trans Am.

Yes they are. Kind of like the LeBaron and Daytona are not the same…one is J and one is G.
    But they are the same.

Sorry but no. I work on both csrs everyday. The calibers suspension is almost identical to the mitsu lancer. The avenger/200 is more chryslerized. The caliber has stamped steel front control arms. Avenger/200 has cast control arms. The rear suspension is completely different as well. The brakes are the same I believe.

Ball joint is in the knuckle on the avenger/200 as well.

Indeed. The calibers suspension/steering is overall far less reliable than the avengers. I see way more problems out of calibers.

You can tell they share common ancestry. But the JS cars are a more modified version of the mitsu platform. Like comparing a dart to a new Cherokee.
