OK, checked my service book. Your new Yorker the blend door actuator is easier to get to than it was on my car. Should be above the exhaust hump under the bottom of the HVAC box in the car. You'll need to remove the floor vents to get to it according to my book. The procedure to check on that fault is to remove the actuator, run system ad observe if the actuator responds, also check to see if the door can be moved by hand and isn't binding. After that it is checking continuity of your wiring. Let me know I could probably scan the pages for you.

Thanks. I'll look at that the next time I have a chance and then report back. I have a ton of projects right now, but this one is toward the top of the list. Thanks again.

My car was blowing cold air so I swapped the hoses on the firewall leading to the heater core and that immediately fixed the problem. Basically just unhooked both rubber hoses and reversed the flow.

if you can remove the control unit, you should be able to attach a small pair of vicegrips to the blend door to make it manual controlled/

its only 2 or 3 8mm screws. maybe a few covers being a NYer.

Pretty sure it was the HG. Even if that wasn't causing the problem, it sure did fail in spectacular fashion and caused me to throw a new motor in the car. I drove it today and it did feel like I had some heat so hopefully I'll be good to go there.

Final update. Definitely the HG going out which caused this. I made no changes to the HVAC system and it now operates like it should.
