I drove it twice to Portland and back, 470 miles total each time. It is an automatic.

Darn...hoping for a manual so I can use it as a back up to my 95 Neon in case of breakage in the United Manual Transmission Racers series...where I was second this year...the only car driven to every event and running against some that are in the 7.7 range at over 170 mph!

That would be all I need to get the old Matchbox into the 11.8 range...figuring traction and maybe 100 extra lbs....and be totally street worthy! I'll be into some cash in 3-8 months and don't know what I want to do for sure....but am also looking at a 76 Chevy Monza with 350/350 that I want to stick in a LS7 an T56...ORRR chassis out the Box and put that drivetrain into it....I really need Larry Bufford to be my neighbor and have the time to do his wonders to it. A SRT8 392 powertrain would be nice to, but I want to run a few classes at the National Muscle Car Association World Finals at Indy...I was 3rd in their Sportsman bracket race last fall, but hey are dropping the bracket classes and continuing with heads up and index races... LS powertrain lets you run the most classes...and that in a 79 or older allows you the most. The slowest index class is a second away at 15.0...only another 39 hp is needed for Matchbox to run that.

Dang Nice van! Wish i could get it.
front mount i\c, big turbo, meth injection and 25psi and yet it makes only 268hp at the wheels? i would think that engine should be pushing 400 at the crank. granted this isn't isn't a twin cam, but Cliff's old 2.5 TIII wagon made 372 at the wheels on 20psi. maybe it's the gearing\auto transmission or the dyno that is hurting the numbers?
Maybe, but I also wrote 268 and should have said 286…but still, for a daily van I enjoy it.
Too bad I need to give it back next week.

I'm having bad thoughts.. must resist. 286 wheel is awesome for an 8v!

You guys not in CA air resources land are nuts for not taking advantage of this deal. If I wasn't broke at the moment I would have despite that.

Mini vans must be out of fashion now.

I returned it to Travis yesterday. If anyone wants it I can get you in touch with him.
While there I bought a 1989 Turbo 5-speed mini van to drive while I finish the wagon and get my van running.
Then it will be for sale.

Hi Johnny,
I assume this got sold?
Thanks,
Ben
I bought the 5spd but I believe the fast one with the cool stripes is still available.
The turbo alone is worth half the asking price!

The fast one was sold this last Friday.

I do know a guy that has a turbo mini van he wants to sell.
Has upgraded suspension....but the rest I think is stock.
I'll check into it for anyone interested. Its an automatic.
I know it is rust free and under $2000.
