To DBB or not to DBB

So I've got a lead on a deal for a DBB Garrett turbo. Gt2871r hybrid. Has a 30 cold side and larger t3 scroll. Comes with a 3in v band down pipe and all the oil and coolant lines. Gonna drill out a stock ported manifold and bolt it to it. You think it's worth selling my turbonetics super 60 and going with it?

Depends on what you want and how much money you are putting out. If I was looking at a brand new journal turbo and one that was DBB, I would not fit DBB into a tight budget. If you are not paying the entire DBB premium then it would be more tempting. I don't think they are worth the price difference new unless you have very specific demands that are worth paying and arm and a leg for.

    Sounds cheap!

How much can you sell your turbo for? If you have no other use for it then it might be a good deal for you.

Re: To DBB or not to DBB

If its in good shape it will be worth while. DBB dont die like journaled turbos. Best turbo I have own yet is a GT30 DBB I would do it in a heart beat by what you have described spooling is quicker and they last. have a shop check it out for condition if its good get it. Oh I killed my turbonetics S60 then bought the GT30 its a keeper. RIP Turbonetics S60
