While looking through my thread search I have found conflicting info on the head unit output for the factory Infinity stereo in the Spirit R/T with the amplified speakers.
Vigo says..."The infinity deck only outputs a small preamp signal and the amp in the speaker takes care of the rest. Check the speaker wiring. Brown-red is LF+, Green-wht is LF-, Dkblue-rd is RF- and Violet is RF+. IF you used the chassis ground instead of speaker - you would still have some sound but faint."
Tommyturbo says..."the factory infinity speakers have built in amps, and aftermarkets do not. In the factory set up, the deck puts out about 24-36 watts total or so, depending on deck, and then the amp on the speaker has a crossover and helper amps that powers the bass side with about 20 watts or so, and the deck powers the tweeters."
I want to retain the factroy Infinity head unit and replace the speakers and add an amp. I have a few aftermarket speakers to choose from and I already have the Alpine 4 channel amp installed, but what I need to know is do I use the speaker level inputs or the line level inputs to the amp? If they are line level, is the center pin of the RCA jack +?
Thanks in advance!!
