Question Issues with Flashing a tune I just modified

I have and have been using successfully the flashable Smec setup from Boostbutton.
I began working with an mtx tune from here and modified the fuel and some other things, scaled it to 3 bar.
I was able to save it then flash my ecu with it. Vehicle 89 van runs better than stock.
I then went in to adjust the o2 sensor cell things to disable the o2 sensor.
-At that point last night when I made that adjustment, I was still able to flash the ecu with the program I had just modified for the second time.
I just now went to try to flash the ecu again with my updates, and the flash button is greyed as if something was missing or not saved with the last modification.
Can somebody here give me a clue about what is happening so stupid can resume tuning his vehicle please?
    :/

You're maybe editing the .TPL instead of the .BIN? You have to have a .BIN open to flash from the editor.

Okay I think I got it.
I loaded the TPL by mistake and changed the tune and saved that and lost the bin in doing so...
It defaults to tpl instead of the bin

So I am missing a step to saving this?
The instructions for MPtune/Flash seem to be for a different version of MPTune than the 2.0.*** that I have.
Also, The last version I had there was a compile button I had to push before I could save it correctly.
When I hit 'compile' for this version, it asks me which file I am talking about and I don't know what to put in the space.
    Thanks

    Paul
If its asking for a file, its the .asm file its looking for. I usually keep them in the same folder.

You do need to compile it before the .bin will update...

    Im confused again
When I download (thank you for!)the files that are in the repository, I get .bin and .tpl upon extraction from the zip.
Yet, when I go to load a calibration my options are:
    .tpl .bin or .lbr.
There is no .asm anything that I has found sofar..

With MP Tune, you can edit a cal 2 different ways:

    1) .bin + .mpt - the .bin file is the actual file loaded into the chip in the ECU. It contains both the cal data and the software that runs the engine. The .mpt file contains the definiitons that tell MP TUne where the cal data is located in the .bin; and how to display it (inputs, outputs, scaling factors, etc.).

    2) .tpl + .asm
    - the .tpl is a text file that contains all of the cal data and definitions used to display the data in MP Tune. The .asm is the source code for the software that runs the engine. You have to compile the .tpl and .asm together to make a new .bin file.

The advantage of using the .tpl +.asm is that you can add data points easily without accidentally overwriting the adjacent table data; which is a concern editing the .bin directly. It also allows me to add new code such as the spark-cut staging limiter which would be near-impossible to do with the stock .bin.

MP Tune defaults to editing a .tpl file. So, if you opened and edited a .tpl, you need to DL the associated .asm from the repository to compile it. The stage cals should come with the .asm in the .zip, though.

Or, just make sure you change the file type from .tpl to .bin in the file open dialog...

Thank you Rob for explaining the tpl mystery
I had tuned in the past with everything set up by a friend who is out of town now, so I had not learned to do this.
I was mistakenly downloading from the stock cal repository thread instead of the ones from the turbonator tsmec thread where there is an asm file.
The puzzle is coming together for me now...
