Put a motor in a 92 daytona today that is auto. It wont crank. No starter function. Trans selector has to be adjusted as its out of wack but is that enough reason to not have starter function? Will it only crank in park?

Yes they only crank in park. The neutral safety switch provides the ground for the starter relay.

Just turn the key to the "on" position, then jump the starter solenoid wires after unplugging them from the PDC.
Sounds good. Guess il try getting the trans sorted then see if i can get it to turn over. This i why i prefer 5spds. Never had this problem before
well i got the trans all adjusted. i made sure all the things are plugged in. at the key in on position i get fuel pump prime, but still no starter. i'm also only getting the airbag light illuminated, not the check engine. something still isnt right. in neutral it sounds like the starter relay clicks
Neutral safety switch bad/broken? That would be the first place id check continuity on.
it worked when before it was removed from the car, its the same trans that was in the car. i dont have another one. anyway to trick the car?

The brown/yellow wire is the one that should be grounded to allow the starter relay to send power to the starter motor. With the shifter in 'park', try jumping that wire to ground to see if it will crank.
Something to try tomorrow. If the trans was empty, would it not start

Find the brown wire and ground it. My 91 had the same problem I ended up wiring it to the clutch switch, wouldn't start without it
Do i pull the plug off or run a wire and ground it in place on the sensor?
No, it would just start and burn up the trans. Put fluid in it!If the trans was empty, would it not start
Im guessing if you ground that wire it will crank. Let us know!
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
Wooo hooo 5hrs of working in good weather and car runs again.!
