Really need help guys

About a month ago my healights quit working so i parked the car got the headlight switch today go to put it in and the harness that plugs into the back the switch is melted all to hell what years can i get the wiring harness out of so i can splice in into my car. The car is an 86 daytona turbo z thanks for the help guys i hope someone sees this and chimes in.

withouth looking at the FSM's 84-86 should work just fine, a later switch might as well.

ok got everything wired in new switch but still no headlights when i click the turn signal switch and hold it the brights come one but gotta hold it what else could be my problem

dimmer switch?

Unplug the dimmer switch connector and install a "jumper" wire on the low beam side. It will be the two left hand slots. This will allow the low beams to work if the dimmer switch is the problem. I did this on my son's Shelby Dakota - (got a new dimmer switch coming from Rock Auto)

okay just got a dimmer switch today going to install it tomorrow will report back if it works if it doesnt what could it be thanks for all the help guys
