Putting this long block motor up for sale. it had 50lbs of compression in all 4 cylinders. Will come as a long block. not including the turbo. ran smooth other than it had no balls as soon as boost came in. true mileage unknown. not sure if it needs rings or what, im guessing rings as it did not knock or smoke or anything. asking 100$/obo for it. pick up in Northern NJ 07026.

No such thing as a non common block 2.5 Turbo, unless home built of course.

    Thanks

There is no logical reason to call an Engine a motor.

So, it's a tall-deck 2.5 turbo? That would be interesting...

    Re: 88 Non-common turbo 2.5L

2.5 Tall Deck used 2.2 T1 (G-Head) pistons. So, the CR wouldn't bee too bad for a turbo. I think it's like 9:1. If you just dropped a late T1 top end on a 2.5 Tall-deck bottom end -- and kept the boost to 8-10psi -- it would probably be decent.

Sorry, I know all the off-topic isn't really helping you sell it. $100 is a good price. If only you were closer...

    Re: 88 Non-common turbo 2.5L

So the tall block 2.5 used 2.2 t1 pistons, not 2.2 tbi pistons?

Dont push the red button. You hear me?

Right. TBI pistons would give too much CR with the 2.5's long stroke...

    Re: 88 Non-common turbo 2.5L

My piston book states 1986-1988 2.5 uses the same piston as 1986 up 2.2 turbo.

    Thanks

Sounds like the timing belt might be off. I just had the same problem and mine had skipped timing, reset it and compression returned to normal. GLWS.
