Pat, going back to your 1st post with pictures (and getting back on topic)....
That intercooler setup is making my head spin! Twin intercoolers? I need to see that in person to understand it. I've never seen that one before.
Anyone else here detecting Carroll's sarcasm? LOL!
The dual cooler and associated Y piping was done to keep it on the super cheap when I thought I was doing a $1k car. It's all still on there since 1 - it was already done and 2 - gave me budget room for other goodies. :-)
IIRC Shadow claims to have pushed ~400hp through Y'd dual stock coolers like what Pat is doing. Should be able to support his goals, and honestly, i think it's pretty cool.
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
Out of curiousity Pat why didnt you just weld the two cores together to make a twin core, isnt that what you did on the aries? Packaging would have been easier, but I will say the dual IC setup does look awesome!
It's definitely cool, and different. I happen to have two stock intercoolers kicking around. One's the stock one and the other is from a Daytona/LeBaron. I'm getting stupid ideas....
It should more than support what the turbo on this motor should be able to muster. I'm not too worried.
Aries actually has a triple core cooler I made, which used to be on this Shadow. I almost stole it back but thought this would be a bit different. I didn't weld these two together because I didn't have enough sheet aluminum left from the truck door I scored for free, which means I would have had to budget for the aluminum. With time running out (started this project mid September) I went with what I had.
Dumb ideas usually are amusing ones. :-)
Good luck, Pat! I honestly don't know if my friend Phil is going this year or not. I need to call him this weekend. He did say that he was revamping the suspension of the Fiesta, so...
I'm cheering on all of our TM guys from a distance!
"Finished" the car (and I use that term loosely!) this afternoon. Wish I had some test time but couldn't make it happen. Seems to run well, turns, stops and made it around the block with nothing falling off so I am calling it good.
Car and truck are loaded up and we're heading out at 5am. Keep your fingers crossed!
Pat
