Kevin, Use the bolt holes for the stock rod shifter ( I believe 2 of them fit) I Drilled at the base of the tunnel for the shifter. There IS a cut-out for the auto you can use.. look on the firewall.

The shifter will sit back ad you will need to do some mods to make it look right.

I did a page on my cardomain website. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/267451/7 It needs a little adjustment to look right.

    Kevin,
Your car is the second L body converted for 555 duty I have seen. On both cars the shifter looks like the lever part is bent different than the stock shifter, almost like its backwards and the boot is pulled forward. Why is that? Hopefully that explanation/question makes sense.

Basically, the shifter sits too far forward. I wanted the shifter to look stock and fit under the factory shifter box. I should have cut a little more off the back of the shifter's base. I'm going to try to work it out where it looks better. I will also 180 the shifter boot. I have a Shadow shifter that has a backward leaning bend. A Daytona shifter would be worse.

    I mostly used this guide
    http://www.extremepsi.org/MembersAre...conversion.htm
But went back and forth between that and Kevins cardomain. Kinda did a few things here and there to try to make it fit how I wanted and leaned on both of them.

I didn't take too many pics of the install since all I had was my camera phone. I also don't have any pics of it in 1st, but this is how it sits with the 89 Shadow shifter.

You also have the option of doing a "rod shifted" A555/A520.....It's not that hard and you don't have to mess with the cable shifter placement at all...

I was going to do that with the heim linkage but I can't run my TU header if I do. The linkage in 3rd gear is in the middle of where the downpipe should be.

Here is info on doing the rod linkage tho...
