    SCCA Daytona #89

Project log started. Took delivery on it this morning. Big thanks to Craig St. Pierre and Joe for working with me and bringing it down to me. I'll get more details later when I am not on my phone. But here is some pics

So more on the car. It is factory struts. Non cast arms. Factory sway bar. Springs is what is in question. They are rock solid and the car seems to sit lower.

There is a cool air damn that fits right in the nose of the car. It creates direct air to the radiator and intercooler. It is routed right the the nose vents. I will get pictures to post what I am talking about.

Will get more information as I discover it.

    Re: SCCA Daytona #89

My plans are to return it to Auto-X duty. That is what it was built for that is what it will do. I plan on sticking a 2.4 in it. But for now I will get the wiring sorted out and get the 2.2 running. Plus the 2.2 and 555 will be going into my 86 Shelby Charger. But I figured it would be a good time to test it and make sure it runs.

Couple more things that I have noticed on the car. This car as far as I have been told was built by 3 different Chrysler engineers for Chrysler. So I like the fact that everything was done right. One thing that I noticed was the whole underneath of the car is streamlined. Meaning nothing hangs down. If you look at the pictures closely where the center console would be that is where the exhaust is ran. And then to the right side of the car in front of the right tire above the rocker. The fuel cell sat where the spare tire was at. Even that aligns with everything in the car.

Really neat car, that single wiper and side exhaust is cool, appears super sturdy!

I would also like to figure out how heavy the car is. I don't even want to guess.

Glad this car got saved. I couldn't get the car across the border. It is neat how the exhaust is tucked into that box.

Not as far as I know. This car used all factory mounting locations and suspension to be able to run in its class back in 1990.

Some more pictures. Gives you more an of an idea of what I am working with. Car is outside until this coming week. I have decided to run the 2.2 in it right now. Make this simple until i figure out the classes and rules and how the car reacts. This will see a 2.4 But want to set the car up suspension wise and get the feel for the car out on the track.

One other thing. I was saying something about this and got as good of pics that I could. Notice the air dam in the nose. They run to both the vents in the front bumper. Is a very ingenius way and is a good idea for the daytonas.

I'm hoping too. As soon as the car is in the garage, we will try and get it going. Anyone know what class I could even run this car in?

Nothing really been going on lately with the car. I want to get the car weighed somehow but not sure how to do it except on a scale. And I don't want to have to push the car on and off of a dolly. Anyone have any ideas of what I could do?
