Where can I purchase new main bearing cap bolts for my 86 Turbo block? I just had the engine balanced and machined, and I'm waiting to install the crankshaft. I tried the dealer but they told me that they were discontinued. I hate to reuse the old ones.
ARP is your best bet. FWDPerformance and Turbos Unleashed both sell them.
If it were me, I would try to reuse them. I believe the thread is 11mm X 1.50. You could try threading a nut on them all the way on/off to check to see if they are stretched. The nut should thread on/off nicely if the bolts are OK. Otherwise, if you are really set on replacing them you can get ARP main studs, but you really should have the main line honed if you do that.
The bolts and threads are fine. I just wasn't sure if I had to replace them.
