need help selecting an intercooler + piping

trying to decide on what size to get. at first I will be running a TII garrett, but will be switching out to a holset later on. I would like to run a huge IC but will that be too much with the garrett or should I just say hell with it and stick the biggest one I can squeeze behind the bumper in there? the first one im looking at is http://www.ebay.com/itm/BAR-PLATE-FM...item4854b562d2 its a 2.5" inlet/outlet intercooler with 2.5" pipe the other one im looking at is http://www.ebay.com/itm/FROTN-MOUNT-...item35cbeefef4 its a much larger 3" inlet/outlet intercooler with 3" pipe. im leaning towards the bigger one because when I swap the holset in I don't want to have to replace the intercooler and all the pipe when that happens. im pretty sure all of you will tell me to get the big one and make it fit, I just want o make sure im not going to have major problems with pressure loss due to the larger intercooler/pipe.

Be careful when considering these types of kits.
Specifications like thermal rejection, fins per inch, etc.. are not present.
Ask the seller questions - avoiding the answer or an indication of 'having to get back with you' should raise a flag.

    Thanks

3" tubing is super hard to fit in an engine bay even 2.5" takes up a bunch more room than 2" does. I don't think you'll need larger than 2.5 for your goals. Like Ken was saying, there are some cores that flow/cool well and cheap overseas types that don't, but yeah, generally the largest core you can reasonably fit is best.

I'm intrigued with the water to air systems and might make the switch
