Aw, crap... didn't know these brakes wouldn't fit behind these wheels!

Looked like I had everything finished today and was ready to take it around the block. Bolted on the front wheels and the car wouldn't move. I didn't realize the '89 CS front brakes would interfere with the 15" Wagons. Ended up grinding the beegeezus out of the calipers. I figured I could buy replacement calipers when I get some aftermarket rims.

Just a FYI for anyone that might be doing the same thing.

'86 Laser XT's came with them.. Look 'em up on Cardomain and you'll probably find one that still has them on.. They look fairly decent..They came on some other cars too..
And yeah, it's a bummer with those bigger brakes.. Some 15's clear, some don't.. Centurian II's don't.. 15" pumpers do, Eggshells do too..

Thanks. I like those wheels. Someone else called them Windmill wheels.

Sure about the Centurion II's? I think I test fitted them and they would... the 6.5" clamshells should fit too.

Centurian II's could be like Pizza's.. They only clear if the pads are worn down far enough. Though there are also two different manufacturers of Pizza's, one fits great over the big brakes.. heh.. And the Centurian II's damn near fit onto my brakes.. Drive the car with them installed and it was like thunk thunk thunk as the wheel turned and slapped the caliper on each pass.. heh, too rare of a rim to be beating on it like that..

With brand new pads I tried:

    Wagons
    Swiss
    Pizza's
    and Snowflakes

    None of them fit.

Both my 6" and 6.5" crabs fit over my 89 ShelbyZ 11" calipers with new pads on them. It kissed the inside of the 6" at first, but once the pads seated it cleared.

I'm suprised about the snowflakes. They clear the 11" brakes on the Spirit R/T's fine.

Sounds like something is amiss as the snowflakes will clear 11's as snowflakes came on 11 inch equipped cars. I have had pizza wheels clear my 11 set up but 2 of them needed some minor clearancing.
