    '86 T&C T2 conversion cruise control

In all the work I've done converting this wagon to T2 I never noticed the cruise controller has cables running to and from it. I was thinking all I had to do was swap out the old large unit for a newer. smaller (to make room for lower I/C hose). Anyone tried converting these cars from the old style requiring cables to the new where the computer control everything? Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Wire it up like '87 cruise and you should be all set. The only reason the 87 TII cars didn't have cruise is because they didn't have the cruise servo bracket in time.

What I did on my 87' T&C was move the cruise control unit up to the drivers side strut tower like on the acclaims. Its a great spot because it puts it right out of the way, and makes tons of room for the intercooler piping.

I have cruise, but it has that huge pineapple sized unit with speed-o cables running to and from it which greatly hampers relocating it. What's involved in re-wiring it to '87 specs? I've done the wiring changes to T2 it, moved the MAP under the hood, changed to a 4 wire O2.., so what another, right.

You can look up the cruise wiring to the LM. You need to make sure that you have the 6(?) wire brake switch, and then it's just following the factory diagrams for the most part. I always have trouble following the diagram for the switch on the stalk. If you find a pig tail for the cruise servo most of the wire colors match up though.

I assume you mean I can just HOOK up cruise wiring to LM? I've got wiring to servo now, is that just power and ground (I'll look it up)? I don't have an '87 wiring diagram, only '86 and '88 Factory Service Manuals (well and the '89 single volume van manual).

You'll need to look it up in the FSM to see how everything is wired. Then you'll need to hook it up.

Will I need an '87 LM?

I'm not positive about that. I know that an 87 LM will work for sure though.
