    Wiper motor brushes

Did a little searching, didn't find anything.

My Turismo wipers quit working, first the low speed, then the high speed. Troubleshooting verified motor was not working. I took the motor assembly apart (easy stuff) and found the brushes worn down to the point they were no longer making contact with the commutator. All other parts are in good working order, just worn brushes. The high speed ones must have lasted 2 months longer than the slow speed ones.

Any idea where I can get brushes? I don't have the option of going to a junk yard, because there are none within 3 hours of me, and the ones that do exist don't keep our cars, they get crushed almost immediately.

I'd seriously rather not spend $65 (assuming no other shipping charges to Alaska...) for a cardone reman unit, especially since the rest of the unit is in such good condition.

An option I will eventually do if I can come up with brushes near the same size, is shave them down to fit, but I'd rather not do that if there is a good answer here.

    Thanks guys

    Re: Wiper motor brushes

I was looking for rebuild parts for wiper motors about a year or so ago myself. I never found anything, but I'm certainly still interested if somebody else does!

If you can measure them, try these guys: http://store.eurtonelectric.com/brushes.aspx they carry just about any brush you could ever want. May be able to get something close.

maybe find someone that rebuilds starters and alternators in one of the "big" cities up there. Check with somebody that has really old cars for a name.

Alright, I'll see what I can find.

I put a spacer in the brush holder for now to use up the last bit of brush still usable. The motor works for now...

I was also looking for the parking circuit/delay brushes as well. Those are actually the harder ones to find.
