Fuel Pump Power from where? Carb to turbo

I just swapped a GLHS dash harness into my GLH for a turbo swap.

My carbed GLH came with an in tank electric fuel pump from the factory. A black wire and a black wire with a green stripe plugged into the harness.

That harness went into the back of the fuse box, to a ground, to the harness firewall plug, and to a green box (looked like the intermittent wiper box) under the dash. It was all factory and bundled in with the original harness....so the electric fuel pump was stock....even though it was carbureted. (back when it ran carbed, if that box was unplugged the fuel pump quit running). With that setup, it primed with the key, then came on when it started.

    Anywho....

Now I have the plug from the fuel pump coming up by the fuse box and there is nothing to plug it into.

So I suppose what I am asking is...on the GLHS, where would the fuel pump body harness plug into the dash harness? Or where does it get power? Do I need that green box that was with the other harness to run it?

    I'm confused...lol

I don't want to just wire it to a switch or on with the key...I think thats kinda hokie.

    Thanks guys.

Not sure on an l body, but on most other bodies the fuel pump was ran down the driver side door sill back to the grommet, then to the pump. Mine plugged into a connector up by the fuse box. Very odd you had an electric fuel pump on a carb'd car. Thats not the wire for the fuel sending unit, for the fuel level, is it?

No...its the one that goes to the pump.

And mine ran from the fuse box, along the sills to the back seat. Across the back seat and through a grommet in the floor to the pump.

And yea...everyone says that...lol Its stock as hell. Even has penta stars on it...lol

Chrysler did put electric fuel pumps on some carb'ed cars. It was done to try and eliminate the vapor lock issue they had because they ran the fuel line in front of the hot motor. I think at one time there was even a TSB about it. Funny thing is, not all cars got them. My Dad had an 85 Omni that had an electric fuel pump from the factory.

Yea this one is definitely factory. Maybe because its Florida and the hot climate area cars got them since vapor lock was more of a problem?

Is it in tank or external pump?

    Thanks

What also works for testing is run the power wire to the + on the coli, Find a good ground.

The black/green wire on a turbo car goes to the ASD relay. That wire has 12v on it when the car is running. The same color wire goes from the ASD over to power the coil and injectors. I don't know how it gets thru the dash on an L-Body, but that's where that wire should eventually go...

Re: Fuel Pump Power from where? Carb to turbo

Thats what I'm trying to figure out. Is there a fuse for the fuel pump on the turbo setups like there was on my carb setup?

And yes, mine had a factory in tank pump and a fuse in the fuse box that was even marked fuel pump.

But I just have the wires coming from the pump and nothing to plug it into. I just think its odd my carb harness had a plug for the fuel pump and the fuel injected harness does not...lol

Also, my car is far from running so I'm trying to figure this out before I proceed...lol No checking the coil and such...lol
