Jumpy Speedometer New speed distance sensor?

    Hi guys,

My 90 Daytona's speed distance sensor took a dump on me about two weeks ago, I replaced the sensor the day after it broke (No readout on the gauge and the car would die when slowing down to a stop). All was great after replacing it, car even was driving better. Now all of the sudden the speedometer is jumpy and at times does not work.....But the car does NOT throw code 15 and is driving just fine. Anyone have any ideas of what else to look at?

    Thanks

Honestly, i would suspect the sensor again! It probably just isnt dropping out enough to set the code. If you can get the sensor warrantied, i would, before chasing down anything else.

Personally, I'd look at the wiring. That's usually been my issue.

Check the wiring at the cluster. Loose pins and bad grounds can cause all sorts of funky meters. After that, check the wiring to the sensor. Make sure there aren't any breaks in the insulation and such. If that checks out, make sure the connectors are clean. The last two things to look at are the sensor itself and the drive gear on the sensor. Is the gear in once piece? Is it missing a bunch of teeth?

If that all checks out, then your car is possessed and you'll have to find a priest.

Ok so it must have been the cluster itself. Cleaned the connectors and the board on the back all fixed! Thanks guys!
