coolant leak at the exhaust connection to the turbo

So I purchased a 1991 2.5 T1 Dodge Shadow convertible while I am deployed. My father started tinkering with it for me and said this in his email "I put coolant in and it is leaking out at the exhaust connection to the turbo." Any inputs what might cause that? He didn't want to run the engine until I heard some inputs. Thanks in advance.

If the coolant is coming out of the exhaust donut I would pull the spark plugs and check if their is any coolant in the cylinders.

Yeah, that's not a good sign if that's where it's really coming from. Most likely something very wrong with the motor or a very cracked center section of the turbo.

Or just a head gasket.

Pull the plugs and shine a flash light in it.

Disconnect the water line to the turbo from the head (the line over the temp. Sensor by the top radiator hose) plug the head so coolant doesn't leak out. Refill the car with coolant if it continues to leak out then its in the head. If not then the turbo is cracked. This is how I tested mine found out my turbo was cracked.

Could also be exhaust manifold studs, those go into the coolant jacket.

The ones on the passenger side are the ones drilled through to the coolant passages. Common screw up for non td people.
