FS: 1992 Daytona IROC, Hybrid 2.2

    Selling or Wanted Price: $4000
    Description:

Up for sale is my 1992 Daytona IROC. I have had this car for 4 years and it has been a blast. I bought it from a customer that lost interest in the project. As soon as I bought it, I pulled the 8v and replaced it with a hybrid. The engine is a 2.2L using T2 rods with ARP wav-loc bolts and ARP main studs. Mileage on the motor is approx. 8k. Oil pan is a baffled 2.5 pan(no trap doors on this one). Cylinder head is from a 2.0 neon with stock 2.0 intake and exhaust cams. The head was ported by Steve Menegon, and the intake is one of my creations that uses curved runners to allow room for the T3 A/C compressor(yes a hybrid with a/c that works!). The injectors are 72# seimens. Fuel pump is a Walbro 255 an accufab FPR is mounted on the pass. side strut tower. The exhaust manifold is a cast piece from godspeed(i think)and exhaust is full 3". Spark and fuel duties are handled by an SDS EM-4 standalone w/an MSD ignition. It also has a FWD Perf. stage 5 SBEC in it but is not controlling anything other than the fuel pump/asd. The turbo is a DBB GT3582r with a .63 hot side. The external wastegate is made by Turbosmart and boost is controlled with an Eboost2 EBC. A Greddy BOV is mounted on the lower intercooler tube. The intercooler installed in the nose is as XS power. The radiator/fan is from a 3.0, I recently replaced the fan unit with a brand new Dorman unit. Trans is an A568 with an RPS plate and 4 puck disc. Oil is mobil 1 with redline shocklube added in. Diff is some sort of posi, not sure of make. I made only a hand full of passes,<4, with this car @ the track and none of them were with slicks. Best I did was a 13.1 @ 115mph on only 18psi. Sticky tires, more boost, some better fuel and better driving would put this car deep into the 11's.

The suspension is Koni struts and shocks with Eibach springs all around. Wheels are Konig 17x7 with Hankook Ventus RS-3's up front and BFG radials out back. 3 of 4 center caps are m.i.a. The oil press, coolant temp, and egt gauges are Stewart Warner. A/F gauge is an innovate lc1 and the sensor was just replaced this spring.

The odometer shows 142,8xx but the actual mileage is approx 102k miles. The original odometer quit @ 98k and I had only this one as a replacement. As mentioned earlier a/c works and is cold. The interior is decent, 7 out of 10 with a sagging headliner and carpets are in need of a good vacuuming/cleaning. Seats show no rips or tears and padding is still good. One of the previous owners had attached gauges? or something to the dash just above the center vents so there are 2 holes showing where it was removed. The hood and roof paint has seen better days and is showing good amounts of fade and clear coat peeling-see pics. Body has minor parking lot dings but no major dents. Both bumpers show some marks from city people who can't park and use the bump and reverse method of parking. Honestly a paint job would make this a very nice car. The head unit is a Kenwood HD , model # unknown at the time of writing this. It has a Kenwood amp and JL audio separates front and rear.

Ok, now for the things that need attention:

**NEW FRONTS ON THE WAY**-Tires- The fronts are all but worn out and dont match the rears
**FIXED**-The car has what I believe is a bad ground. I have not looked into the problem since I don't have much free time lately. The gauge needles on the aftermarket gauges move slightly when there is an electrical load applied, i.e. window switch pressed, brake pedal applied, etc. I will try and locate the issue and repair it before it goes but, just want to be up front.**FIXED**
-Needs an alignment to go with the new rubber
-A/C works great, very cold but the SBEC would not kick the compressor on all the time. So I wired the a/c button to ground the relay thus removing any control the SBEC has over compressor cycling, temp/pressure control. I feel that the SBEC was at fault since I could not find any issues elsewhere.
-Hood has small amount of rust on the front edge where the safety release is

Fixed the ground issue, was a broken ground wire to the body.

Tires should be here Friday. The front end will be aligned once the new shoes are mounted.

Any rust underneath or in the wheel wells, spare well, rear quarters?

What pistons used in the build?

Any electrical gremlins besides the fixed ground issue?

3" exhaust include a cat. (fat chance I know, but worth asking)?

Limited slip in the 568 a helical unit or spring-block type?

And lastly how is the EMS-4 to work with? Does it have knock control/retard?

Thanks in advance, a lengthy list of questions indeed.

    .020 JE pistons

    Nothing else at the moment.

    No cat, sorry.

Not sure, never had the rear cover off for inspection. It does not feel like a spring-block type however.

The SDS is easy to work with. It is pretty basic. Knock control is there, but I do not use it.

Still have the car but I lost the timing belt back in October so I had the cylinder head re-freshened with new valves and resurfaced. I also had new Ventus RS3 tires mounted on the front.

    New lowered price $4000
