    Head crack fixes??

    Hey folks,

Know any cheap and good fixes for head cracks? Got one between valves on my Escort 1.9 and I think it's into the water. Was pondering MAP torch brazing, don't have a MIG

Any other ideas? (Some run in the coolant block/head sealer stuff failed to seal)

    thanks,

TIG weld aluminum , 1.9 Escorts drop the valve seats also , consider yourself warned , get a reman head or have it fixed professionally

I would say no, any heat near the seats that is more than normal will make this happen.

I'm fairly sure it had the seats redone at some point. Could possibly be why the crack is there now, machined a few more thousandths out and made a really tight interference fit.

THe rebuilt heads for these seem fairly cheap now, considering. Trouble is they all seem to be at the opposite ends of the country and I don't want to wait 2 weeks for 'em to get up here to Canada.

Well, got another head, has seen weather though, not sure yet if the cam is any good, so complete strip, clean reassembly required at least... will probably end up swapping in cam, lifters and seals from this one, if not valves too
