start my van fan relay starts clicking and van shuts off

I'll start the 89 2.5 van and it will run fine. After a min the fan relay will start clicking and shut the van down. Any ideas?

some back round on the van. had this problem along with others causing me to swap the engine. after the swap the problem remained. I have checked the alt harness, the fuseable link, swapped the fan relay and asd (because it was clicking at first) checked the grounds, even swapped the alt thinking it might not be charging enough. swapped hep cap and rotor and the smec. with the new motor I got a new o2, coolent temp, iac, tps, and injectors. I don't have much to replace. would running the grounds directly to the neg on the battery help to triple check they are good?

It's probably a bad SMEC. When I first started doing custom cals I had that same problem and it turned out to be a bad board. I'm chalking it up to static or something while I was socketing the board.
