anyone have any photos of a 5-speed shifter in a k body convertible?
i just need something to gauge where to put the 523 shifter in my '86 'vert.
i went and pulled the auto shifter out last night, and you wanna talk about a cave in there.

If it's a floor shift auto the stick shifter goes right back in where the auto came out of. I did the same thing in my Reliant wagon.
Nate
well, it was a floor shift auto, but it's a convertible, there is 6.5" between the top of the floor pan to the top of the "hump". the auto shifter had a bracket on it that almost looked like a sling, it bolts to the top of the tunnel and hangs down underneath. i'll get some pics posted of the cavern
i figured out that if i space the stick sifter 1" in the front and 1.75" in the rear, it should just about put it even with where the auto shifter was mounted.
Time to break out the welder!!!
Weird, never seen a shifter setup like that up close, but I've seen them in use so I know what you're refering to.. It'd be pretty trick if you could do a short shifter setup burried down there, it'd look alot like a Miata or something, real short shifter stickin outta the hole, and with the short throw setup, it'd feel cool too.
that's pretty much what i'm trying to avoid, i don't want to limit the throw any but i don't want 5 feet of stick sticking out of the console either
i want to see how this is gonna feel before i put in a short throw.
as soon as i get my computer straightened out , i'll get some pics up.
the shadow shifter isn't completly flat, it's got a .75 step in the rear.
when i get the spacers built, it should put the collar on the stick just about even with the top of the hump.
