    Hubs for rear disk swap

    Hello all,

I am looking for 2 rear hub from a rear disk equipped car so I can go ahead with my swap.

Found out that on ebay, it is for a Honda...

    Please help!

The rear drum hubs will work fine with rear discs (I have used them with both vented and non vented setups). There is no reason to change the hubs when doing a rear disc conversion.

I actually like the rear drum hubs better because they allow you the ability to use Neon rotors due to a slightly larger spacing from the axle where the Neon rotors bottom out on the backing plate when you use TD rear disc hubs.

    Hummm...

The 6mm difference between the hubs is what I would need right now.
Piston is all the way push in so does the slider sleeves and I just can't push the caliper to go in so I can bolt it to the back plate. If I had used pads, that would work but I have brand new pads so that is not gonna happen.

Interesting I never had that problem even with new pads. Pads do vary in thickness from manufacturer so that could be the issue.

Good picture proving my statement incorrect for pads that thick.

How thick is the pad material? I know that Hawk ended up making their rear pads thinner at something like .680" to avoid this type of problem on the intrepid (and make the pads common between intrepid and neon).

I already sold the only set of rear hubs that I have but I am sure someone will have some. The vented rears with thick pads must be why they changed the offset.

Time to get rid of the overkill of thick heavy vented rotors and go non vented!

    Yeah, yeah, yeah...

Total thickness of the pads w/ the back plate is 0.610". The back plate it self is ~0.200"

I really hope that someone will steep up because as of now, I only have I have a set...but that's it.
Still, I gotta wait on my inlinetube orders but I could get going in the meantime.

Anyhow, I have hope I will find my Savior!

I ran in to problems installing 88 style rear discs on my 86 turbo Z. The 86's stock hubs were too short(or tall, it was 5 years ago now and I can't remember) to fit the rotor and caliper on properly. I had to use the 88 hubs to make the setup work.

With vented or non vented rear discs?

I have actually used lbody drum hubs with both vented and non vented setups so I am really surprised. Perhaps the rotors also vary a bit.

Re: Hubs for rear disk swap

    Hi Francois,

I have an 89 Shelby Daytona TII 5spd w/rear discs that I'm going to part out. Wasn't planning on doing it right now, but I guess no one has the parts you need.

Would it have the correct hubs? How would I check to be sure?

Anybody else know if these would be the hubs he needs?

Are the hubs different from vented to non-vented?

In case others are wondering, part number is the same for the plain or vented disk. 4383492 is the number.
