Some Brake Questions

Hi All!

It's been a while since I posted. I put my '85 ragtop project on hold for a while but want to get back to it. I just got antique plates for the car so I don't have to deal with that pesky PA inspection any more!

I'm planning a variety of upgrades and basically, the suspension and brakes are going to be mostly Daytona Shelby. I have an '89 2.5 T1 minivan engine and trans that will eventually power it.

Anyway, I was poking around the brake parts I'd collected and had some questions:

Do the '89 vented and solid disk rear brakes use the same pads? I have both a solid and vented rear disk setup and I think I'm going to use the solid to start. If they don't have enough stopping power, I can swap the bigger (and much heavier) ones later. I was looking up which pads to use and it seems both use the same part number.

Next question: Is the below picture of a steering knuckle to the 11" Daytona front brake?? I was going crazy looking for them and finally found this set under the parts tank. There is no separate caliper adapter. Now if I could just figure out where I put the hubs!

Those are big brake knuckles. There is no caliper bracket as the caliper bolts directly to the knuckle.

Thanks, Cordes! So when you say those are 'big brake knuckles' you mean the 11" versions I want to use?

I was pricing new wheel bearings and it seems if I buy the hub/bearing assembly, it's not much more money that just a bearing. That's good. Now I don't have to find the hubs!

Those look like the one I have and are for the 11" disk with the 60mm caliper.

The hub comes complete with the bearing.
