    Re: 1990 Consulier GTP Targa

    1. The old Bilstien shock and the new QA1 adjustable shock.
    2. I came with a type of rod end that needed to be installed.
    3. Just add one clip, press in the rod-end, add the other clip.
    4. This is what it looks like installed. Showing the adjusting knob.
    5. The parts that came in the box.
    6. Had to squeeze the spring just a little to get the top hat installed.
    7. Top hat in and ready to put in the car.
    8. Had to shorten the spacers as the "rod-end' in the new shocks was wider.
    9. How the spacers work with the shock.

All installed and spring height adjusted.
These do seem right and room for movement without bottoming out.
Can't do a test drive yet, my radiator fill box is not ready yet.

While pushing down on the car to settle it so I could take measurements it felt real soft.
"OH YEAH" these are adjustable in 18 positions. I turned them to 13 and seems too hard.
I'll get to play with it soon.

    These were purchased from Summit,
    part number HAL-DS401.

I really thought it was going to hit the cross brace but there is room!

Plus going to add a Super 70 turbo. I like this one on my GLHS so thought I would us it here also.

    Re: 1990 Consulier GTP Targa

Took a 555 trans I had to Perry (friend) for inspection and freshening up.
    Also going to add:
    Case drain plug
heavy duty chrome-moly bearing support plate
    Quaife limited slip

NOT going to install it right now, just want it ready "in case".
Don't want to be autocrossing at SDAC ( and blowing the trans)
and not have something ready to ship to me so I can get the GTP home.

I know that won't happen but this is my insurance.

Man, it looks like that fluid was spent! It looks like the I-shaft bearing surface looks pretty good. Is it? How are the dog teeth and syncros?

I have new cir clips that hold 5th on if you would like a set.

If you can get a set, Adam Lengels fork inserts are a good investment also.

I'll let the tranny builder know.

Again, I don't know, the tranny builder does though.

    Re: 1990 Consulier GTP Targa

Worked and worked on the install of the header and new intake today. Might have been the
most challenging thing I have done on a car. Would have been easier to take the head off and
install them and put the head back on. But the lower part of the intake is on and the TU header
is bolted up. Nuts are not quite tight enough yet. I need a different 10mm wrench, something
with more angle on the head. Not sure if something like that is made. If not I will be cutting
    and welding to make one.
Top shot during intake testing. Shot from below with both installed.

    Re: 1990 Consulier GTP Targa

Okay, let me clear up my last note. (It was late) I did work on headers on a Ford Mustang that was harder.
Took 8 hours to install them. Some bolts I could not even do with my big hands, I had to get help.

This header normally would be installed with the head off on a work bench. I did it in the car. A Consulier.
Working from under the car. All went well, just a lot of patience needed. Paying attention to what I was doing
and not tightening too much on one nut....all need to be tightened a little at a time.

And worth it, comparing the stock to this one. I can't wait to finish and take it to the dyno.

Let me guess...long tube headers on that Mustang, right?

I don't remember but I know it was a double over head cam engine. Had to
unbolt engine mounts and jack up each side to do it.

Wow! How nuts is that!? It looks like both of your cars were hanging out together even before you two owned them.

^^ Yes very cool indeed. It's a small production number so I bet a lot of cars did that...especially since Barbie was never sold she got to hang out with all the boys, including Frankenstein.

    What a whore

Still, what are the odds? Johnny and I first met at the Califonia SDAC meet in Las Vegas. Not sure what year that was maybe Alan remembers.

Mike, you might want to check for remnants of Barbies top (targa) and her booty lid in your car. Maybe it was Frankenstein who roughed her up... :P

Maybe one of the other targa owners will let you take a splash off of their engine cover so that you can reproduce one for your car, Johnny. That would be pretty sweet.
