SO what did mom think after you let her drive Barbie? Looked like a nice day for a show, nice clean CSX-VNT too, one of the Portland guys from here?

My mom would not go for a ride. She is in a wheel chair. She was afraid she could not get out without a crane. She used have a 55 chevy with a 348 in it and used to drive semi-trucks, so she could drive it. She would like to.
The CSX was from a Portland guy. Name is Jim.

Now that is a cool mom, never would have thought that. Car is looking good!
MinivanRider
She was the first woman commercial log truck driver in the late 60's to drive log truck in Washington state that was not a mom/pop operation. I remember watching the news with her as a feature.

Installed license plate holder. It is removable by just pulling the spring loaded pin.

While installing the plate holder, I looked around under the car. It has a strange handling issue, and I think I found out what is causing it. Both upper front ball joints are bad. I removed them and waiting to get the new ones that should be here tomorrow.
I rebuilt the rear suspension last year, the front looked fine. Guess not now....

Ball joints, always, on every 20+ year old car. We went thru My Bro's 2004 Lightning and they were shot. Handles like a whole 'nuther rig now.

wow, looks like there's lots of clearance for much wider rims.
Changed the ball joints...its all back together.
Alignment set up for Tuesday.

are those pics of the front and rear suspensions respectively?
Looks like it uses Chevy balljoints, yeah?
Uppers are 1970+ AMC Javelin (and other AMC cars)
The lowers are 1990 Caravan (and other Mopars)

Wanted to change the clutch...monster job. Switched directions and pulled the whole thing out.
Took about 8 hours. Now to assemble again.

Wow, that is a big job to change the clutch in those.
Also going in is a lightened flywheel, new clutch, freshened 555 with quaff and engine with forged pistons.

That's definitely more work than anyone else will be doing on the way to SDAC this year. Keep it coming.
I need to have it all back together by Monday.

All depends on the design and if the ball joint is loaded or not.
You would laugh, the GTX still has its original upper ball joints. I even have a new set sitting in the boxes from a master set purchased 30+ years ago.
On the torsion bar Mopars the lowers take all the abuse and load.
Working on clearing the decks.
