Just wondering what's the going rate on Methanol in other areas. I was under the assumption it was pretty cheap, the only place around here that carries it wants ~$7/gal. Is that about what it is all over?

I paid $2.40/gallon for Sunoco Alky in mid July, north of Cincinnati.

I checked the local Home Depot for 'denatured alcohol' today only to find it was $13.xx/gallon. I can't get a break anywhere....

Whoa Simon, that boost juice costs twice as much as they are quoting here!
New England Racing Fuel is the place closest to me. They quoted me $37 earlier in the week, they said it had just gone up $2 that day though for the 5 gallon pail.
Anonymous, that link didn't work.
Sorry, thats what I get charged. Devilsown said I could use windshield washer fluid also. I was using the winter blue stuff, its got way more methanol.Originally Posted by Turbo3Iroc

Right, where you live that probably the only option? It's not such a bad deal though, since mixed just right already. They sell that 50/50 anti-freeze for the same price as the 100% stuff too!
Don't a lot of you guys live near places where they sell "E85" fuel? I mean, it's only 15% gasoline.

"One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary."

hey here is something you guys might want to consider! if anywhere around you is a farm then they have to get tires somewhere! the reason i say that is (unless you live in the deep south) farmers put fluid in there tires. they use meth. so just fnd out where the farmers get their tires from go there and ask if they have any meth for filling tires. the place i get mine on the barrel it says 99% meth. 99% is good enough for me. and it really is considering that may people around here go to him and get it for their jr. dragsters. an obtw i pay about $1 a gallon for it.
If ethenol would work you could make it your self for much less using corn.
hehe just dont get drunk, or get caught!

I think im WV its legal for small quantitys for personal consumption.(like close to 100 galons a year or more)
I get my methanol at farm coop, its like a tractor supply store 2.50 per gallon any tractor supply store should sell it.They use methanol to fill there tires with instead of antifreeze because it is cheaper and wont freeze.Thats where most of the mini dragster guys get there methanol around here for there briggs motors.
I do believe ethanol, or any grain alcohol production is regulated mainly by the fed gov. hence the ATF. Moreover, I have been told from many home brewers that it is illegal to manufacture any alcohol over xx%. I would look very hard into the ins and outs of making your own ethanol even if it is for your car, as the risk might not be worth the reward.
Oh as of this point of time I have no need for it but in the future I may and I would look in to it closly before manufacturing it.I also wouldnt be selling it to any one for use in cars or them.
So the winter blue stuff contains methanol??
Not to get off topic but what's the best chemical for chemical intercooler? Water, meth, alky? Mixes? Straight to the face? My friend whom has a Turbo Laser running 18psi on stock stuff said he found it to be much faster on the meth than alky.
