1989 Lebaron coupe steering rack brackets

    Guys,

I need the "steering" rack brackets for a 1989 Lebaron coupe 2.5 turbo. The car is making a thumping sound while driving. I believe there are only two brackets that hold the rack in, but I am not certain. The car is not mine as it belongs to a relative. Any insight offered on this parts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Actually there's only one, the 2 driver side bolts go through the rack body. I have seen rack bolts come loose and cause steering slop due to the rack moving around.

What sort of thunk and when? Could be an axle too.

Thanks for responding. My aunt's mechanic told us that she needed the bushings and brackets for her rack. As you know, a Lebaron is a "J body".
It's hard to describe the thump, other than to say, it seems to occur when she brakes. It does sound like something is hitting the floor board. The rack was replaced about 14 years ago. I mentioned the possibility that maybe it was in her suspension or her rack. Her mechanic replied that she needed the rack bushings and brackets.
From my 1991 Mopar parts book, in suspension group 19, I got the numbers for #5 on figure 19-1800, as 4470382, and these two part numbers under "JCY" 4470367 (Rt), 4470369 (Lt).
#6 bushing - has the numbers 3643471, and these two part numbers under "JCY", 3643422 (Rt) and 3643425 (Lt).

#7 is another bracket (that #5 screws into) with the numbers 4470383 and these two numbers under "JCY", 4470366 (Rt) and 4470368 (Lt).

Her noise seems to be coming form the driver's side but it could be coming from underneath the middle of her front floor.
After looking at the picture in the Mopar parts manual, I am confused as I haven't looked under her car.
