    Vacuum lines for SMEC-controlled boost?

I have no idea which forum this should be under, but it's turbo-related.

I've been running a manual boost controller for the entire time I've had my car built. I have a FWD Performance Stage 5 cal that will control boost at 18psi, which is basically where I have the current boost controller set at anyway. I'd like to try to switch over to computer-controlled boost for a few reasons. I tried it today and I thought I had the vacuum lines hooked up right, but I was getting less than 5psi boost. This is going off of the underhood sticker (car was a 2.5 turbo, still has the boost control solenoid plugged in). On the sticker, it shows the line hooked up to the center port on the solenoid, then tee-d off to the wastegate can and the compressor housing. Can anybody confirm that for me?

Pretty sure the FWD cals are based on the T2 code. So, you need to use the T2 style boost control vac plumbing. The T2 ECU boost control with the T1 vac plumbing would give you only the WG boost setting (5-7psi).

I believe you're right about the cals being based on the TII setup because I had to add a charge air temp sensor to use it.

I'm guessing that the TII vacuum diagram would be in the service manual, so I'll have to go digging through it when I get home. Thanks Rob.

Hmm... it shows it plumbed in to ported vacuum/boost rather than coming off of the compressor housing. Easy fix, but wouldn't that be the same when you're in boost? Is the Turbo I wastegate solenoid different than the Turbo II?

Man, I haven't been over to Russ's page in a long time since there's no 2.4L stuff on there, but man he's got quite a library!

    EDIT: http://www.minimopar.net/ecu/wastegate_so.html

I guess they are different! I'm sure the same solenoid can be used. I'll just have to figure out which port to use.

The solenoids are effectively the same. It's how they're used that's different.
