    86 glh-t to SMEC?

So if I had the entire wiring harness from a 89 shelby daytona T2 and SMEC.. how hard would this be to convert? is there an easier 89 SMEC vehicle? to convert the electronics in my 86 GLH-T, I'm really thinking this might be the way to go instead of two modules.. etc..

I thought the van harness was easier to use. The 50way bulkhead on the Daytona is opposite the gender on a van. I think the L-Bodies are the same as the vans. Also, with a Daytona harness, you get a bunch of wires you don't need (pop-up headlights).

I have an '86 glh-t that I'm currently running '89 smec from a Shelby Daytona. I removed the computer & engine management portion form my stock harness and then removed the same from the '89 harness. Then I connected the '86 "body" portion to the '89 "engine management" portion. It took some time and was a pain in the rear but seems to be working great. Wasn't that hard to do, just really time consuming.

IMO there's nothing wrong with the LM. However, a swap to the later style electronics really is just time consuming.

It's pretty much just the LM put in the PM box. They are separate boards with individual connectors in there. The SBEC is one board.

See the harness if already out of the car.. so It would almost be like starting over.. but you think I should stay with the LM style?

If there's nothing wrong with the LM harness that's quite a bit easier to throw back in the car than it is to convert. There was an LM powered car that ran a 10.4 at SDAC and won the quick 8 this year...
