No start 1988 dodge shadow please help.

Had a slight miss so I was pulling plug wires off while it was running and the on plug arched off oil pressure sensor and the car shut off. Now has no spark or fuel pump and no check engine light on the gauge cluster anymore either. Did I fry the smec? I tried all new relays like asd and everything and even pulled on the fusible links and no help. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Have you tried jumping the coil to see if the FP will still run? That's a lot of voltage to back feed into the system...

Unhooked all the relays and plugged them back in. Was waiting around scratching my head. Heard a click the fuel pump kicked on and turned it over and it runs. Wonder how long for tho....

Only ill effect I can see is that my when coming to a stop the car idles lower than it should. Almost dies till I get completely stopped. Either an iac or something with the auto not kicking down. I dislike autos highly

replaced throttle body sensors to see if that would make a difference and no dice. while coming to a stop the car will not die out but will not idle up like it should in gear or even if i throw it into neutral it tries stalling then once completely stopped it will idle back up fine. also if i rev it to say 4500 and let off it will take a second or two for the idle to straighten out. i have had this happen on other cars tho. any ideas?

i have thought about trying to reset base idle but my tach isnt working correctly so i cant see what for rpm im at.

How many times and how far have you driven it since you unplugged everything? It can take a while for the SMECs and SBECs to relearn the idle.

A few times at a total of prolly ten miles. Didn't do it before I screwed it up lol. Sits and idles fine when stopped in or out of gear it's only when coming to a stop where it doesn't idle up as it should when its in or out of gear

That or the AIS if it doesn't clear up after a little driving. I usually have the idle go a little high for the AIS when it gets gummed up though.

Didn't have this issue till I arched the plug wire to the engine temp sensor on the front of the head so I'm gonna replace that also

Does the temp sensor still read well? I wouldn't think that it would be sensitive enough to be damaged.

Gauges seem to read fine and all that but I'm not sure how to test it since it only has one pole on it so I assume it would be resistance.

If the gauge is reading fine it should be good. Or at least it's as good as it was before.

Re: No start 1988 dodge shadow please help.

Update. Set the base idle by ear haha since my gauge I still cannot get working after re soldering everything but anyways and it seems to have solved the problem. The cap was still in the tb but the screw wasn't even touching the arm at all. Still have the problem of it idling like poop and I think it's either injector related or even an o2 sensor. Seems to load up when it sets there and I can smell fuel even with a cat still on the car.

Wonder if anyone can answer this question for me. I have tons of Injectors laying around I could swap in this thing. The chart in the knowledge center says my injectors since the car is an 88 are high impedence. So I'm guessing none if the low impedence stuff will work?
